You know that.

Ah, but half-assed is the Observer way! Go full tilt and hang it out there!

And VMR? Variable Magnetic Reluctance?

As the Observer project grows, it takes more time to work out the bugs and do testing. Everything is always being refined and improved.

If an audio city council meeting is 600mb, then you must be keeping them in WAV format which isn't ideal.

An MP3 would take up much less space. For example, an entire 10 hour audio book only takes up about 70mb. A 2 hour council meeting shouldn't take up more than 6-8mb and be much easier to download.

Of course you may have been talking about video in which case you can ignore this entire post. :)

Thanks for the kind words, webmaster.

VMR that would be the Virtual Meeting Rooms you have perfected for the co-op.

Brian

I am as amazed as you. I was hoping to keep them small real small.

As for the video, this is another company partnering with what we have developed. This Swiss based company has developed a way to transmit broadcast quality video over the net at nearly the speeds of satellite transmissions. We are trying to figure out how it will plug into the member center. Like the photo galleries.

But you are right, where the Observation Deck is pretty static and well run. The other 3/4s of this project changes almost hourly. And we roll them out and use this as a beta test. An perfect example would be restaurant reviews. First we design and rough out the concept, then we implement, now we are working on ways the review of the restaurants along with reviews of businesses will tie into the Lakewood Shopping Experience.

That way Lakewood's largest and most up-to-date online directory will also incorporate real people's reviews of food, plumbers, cleaners, etc. At the same time, we ned it be be completely down-loadable to our templates so that we can spit it out as a .pdf, booklet, and for the paper. This is in partnership with LakewoodAlive and the Chamber of Commerce.

Imagine my office or stop by. Crazy that anything gets done. While many said this could not be done. Good Lakewoodites, with the time they can afford to give are changing this city and possibly the world for the better. I am very proud of everyone that has contributed to this project.
