Mattress

Post by Bill Call »

As of last night, 10/31/06, the mattresses were still there.

Nearly every person who works for the City passes by that spot on their way to work. If they cared about the City the mattresses would have been long gone.

Sometimes the little things you see tell more about management than the big things.

Bill

I would of moved it last night but the stains, made me think twice about moving the bio-hazard.

I did notice no reg tag, so it will probably stay until some one goes and gets one.

It always makes me think about trash on treelawns though.

torch it

Post by ryan costa »

Let's torch it. It is ok. The ashes are de-loused. And easy to sweep away.

Tried to find the apartment's phone but no luck. Can we call Lakewood CSI to do a DNA test.
Oddly, on the new mapquest they have the satellite view and you can actually see the mattress in the picture.

Here's a thought.....In much the same way that many of us pick up litter and do "block watch" type activities, we could form a "trash watch". If any Observer is offended by trash, and unable to pick it up themselves because of size (or lack of desire) they could call the "trash watch" hotline. A cheerful volunteer would be dispatched to load up the offending article and redeposit it on the lawn at City Hall....

kids

Post by ryan costa »

try handing two kids ten dollars to carry the mattresses to a nearby dumpster.

It may be necessary for them to first get a work permit. That usually requires a doctors visit for kids. Then getting the guidance counselors or principal's office to sign something. Then there is the matter of processing their W2s or 1090s.

To prevent liability for sexual harassment law suits, it may be necessary to make them watch the sexual harassment prevention videotapes part of the hiring process at virtually every other place. Carrying two stained mattresses increases the temptation to make vulgar comments and propositions to nearby women.

The proper generic forms of disclaimers and voiding of liability must also be signed. If these kids have the temerity to slip and require stitches they'd better expect a drug test.

Perhaps the mattress was planted by spies from R.R.?

The matresses are gone.

It was suggested that maybe it was picked up by the company with the sign guys for reconditioning and resale.

This might not be the case, but many thought it could be possible.

The mattress and box-spring are there because another person is moving out of Lakewood.

While my point may seem obvious, I feel compelled to remark that in Mrs. Metelko’s reflections on the public library’s administration and governance as well as in her efforts to advance the case for city manager, she is speaking only for herself.

Please understand Mrs. Metelko’s views and opinions are solely her own. She does not speak for the administration and board of trustees of Lakewood Public Library.

Speaking as the library director, I have no desire to see the example of Lakewood Public Library used in arguments over management and governance issues that fall outside the scope of the library itself.
