Jim, as a resident of Parkwood Road who will be directly impacted by the proposed development between Wyandotte and Bunts, I'd like to make a few clarifications regarding this particular proposal.

It is not for townhomes, but rather for 3 buildings totaling 275 units. The largest of these buildings is located between Parkwood and Bunts and will be 8 stories high. The majority of the units will be in this portion of the development. The second building will be located between Parkwood and Wyandotte and will consist of 5 stories. Directly behind this building on Parkwood will be a 5 deck, 375 car parking garage with the only entrance/exit located on Parkwood. Behind this parking garage will be a 4 story apartment building that will sit 10 feet from my neighbor's house. Even though the Spitzer parcel is smaller than the Barry Buick site, the development at Spitzer will be much larger in size, scope and scale than what has been proposed for Barry Buick.

Anyone who would like to learn more about these projects should attend the Planning Commission meeting on the first Thursday of the month and the Architectural Board of Review meeting on the second Thursday. For the month of May, the Spitzer development will be deferred, so will not be addressed until June.

We will all be severely impacted by three major developments all being constructed along Detroit Road simultaneously.

That's gross, it has no place in that location. Shameful. Tells you that the City Planning Dept is 1) incompetent or non-functional, and 2) in the pocket of developers. Try 3-4 stories on Detroit, max, stepping down to 2-3 stories as it abuts neighboring homes. And I would insist they include the corner parcel at Bunts - too expensive? Well boo-hoo.

The 8 story portion of the project is situated less than 35 feet from the abutting homes . . is is a monolithic monstrosity. Resale values of homes on the affected streets will plummet. I know that most people don't care as long as it isn't in "their backyard - NIMBY", but if the current trend continues, more and more people will be facing similar fates in their own backyards. Detroit Road will become gridlocked and side streets will become more congested as people search for alternate routes to avoid the traffic.

Who are the candidates?
Who are the incumbents and what have/haven't they done about these issues?

If I read the ward map on the city website correctly - they don't make it easy:
'--the beer palace is in Ward 1, where David Anderson, is the incumbent, and Laura Rodriguez-Carbone (among others) is running.
--the planned apartments are in Ward 3, where John Litten, the incumbent, is running again.

Maybe someone close to the beer palooza can tell us how much David Anderson has been involved, and some of the people here who are close to Laura Rodriguez-Carbone can tell us what her stance is. I hope the other candidates are reading the Deck.
Enough people are interested in the apartments that someone shouold be able to tell us how well John Litten has been representing them.

This is part of the job of ward council representatives.
