Completely agree. Someone has a cache of guns, sells them out of their home in a residential neighborhood, the “buyers” rob the owner, then the guy is out in the street shooting after the getaway car! Where does this sound like?

Indeed, where is he? Running the paper shredder? Cooking up another giveaway? What other city assets can he strip?

couple of questions,
Did the guy on Delaware perform background checks?
Do the Lakewood Police know how many of these back alley gun dealers there are?

Ohio law does not require a private seller to perform a background check to sell a weapon.

Bridget, my first question was sarcastic, but my second question is a little more serious. But, if he first did a background check, he might not have gotten ripped off. Theres an old saying in retail: Know your customer.

Michael
He knew his customers, well knew enough about them to be carrying guns elsewhere just in case. Knew them well enough to bail out of the car. Knew them well enough to go to a street that is quiet and slow.
Of course a lot of this affair comes back to. He is a gun instructor. So in kicks the wild west mentality, and the knowledge in any shoot out he is better than 4 punk kids.
Oh well...

If he’s a “gun instructor” he needs to lose whatever certification he has. Under all scenarios he acted impulsively and in an unsafe manner.

Let me rephrase my second question; how many people are selling guns out of their homes in Lakewood, and do the Lakewood Police know who they are and where they live?

Jim, you seem to know more than channel 19. Was the seller in the car with these guys? What street did he pick that was "quiet and slow"? And if he were a competant instructor, he would have had second thoughts about firing on a residential street.

Broke the story two days before they did. I was talking with witnesses as it was happening. How did I break the hospital story? I was told, and found a way to back it up. How did I break the LeBron resigning with Cavs? I spoke with someone that I still cannot talk about.
Mike, I cannot answer for any of the participants. Delaware was the street it played out on.
But I would hope a competent gun instructor would try to keep those guns off the street. But I am sure he was more worried about himself and what he was losing financially.
90% of all gun people think they are better then they really are. Have you ever been in the area of a gunfight? Stand offs?
I will say, that thanks to his shooting they were able to narrow the car down from a gray silver sedan to a Chevy. This was decided by pieces of the car he shot off. Also there was a gun left in the middle of the street.
This photo is from 100 yards behind your house in 2007. The kid had just walked into McDonalds and killed Sean Joslin. A good kid that was just excited to go to work everyday.

I would have thought with that amount of excitement and adrenaline pumping through the shooter's body, he couldn't hit the side of a barn from 10'. I was about 100' back here. Yes that is a nickel plated 45mm in his right hand.

Nathaniel Williams of Cleveland was charged with aggravated murder, and place on $2 million dollar bond.

Let me re-rephrase my second question..............DOES ANYONE THINK THAT GREY-MARKET GUN SELLERS, LOCATED ON QUIET RESIDENTIAL STREETS, AND WHO CATER TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH BACKGROUND CHECKS, MIGHT BE A POTENTIAL PROBLEM????????????????????????

I would go even broader, with guns are a problem right now. I have no idea how America gets out of this nightmare.
But yes, I think most of us think that is a problem too.

At least the neighbors on Delaware are aware that this guy is now a potential theft target, since words probably on the street that he has multiple guns. HOW MANY OYHERS LIKE HIM ARE THERE IN LAKEWOOD?
