I wonder if Tristan Radar and Meghan George our newly elected council people would endorse a recall election? With them on board it might be easier.

Also it will require a substantial campaign budget, and an understanding that this Mayor has been vindictive toward his political opponents. He even has a henchman on call. But this, of course, is one the biggest reasons we need a recall.

I really think that the new council members need time to settle in, learn the job, and promote individual issues.
Any recall effort to be truly successful must be a genuine citizen effort.

Let’s hope this proposed new ordinance has a turn in city council’s Finance Committee ... for no other reason than to discuss/debate the effect pending and subsequent law suits will have on the city’s budget/finances.

I spoke with a council person on Finance committee last, not sure about this year. And they said the conversation over cost of lawsuits never came up.

I said, "Never?" and they said "Never."

Websters Dictionary defines it as: " an attitude or policy of ignoring an often delicate or undesirable situation that one is held to be responsible for dealing with."

A nice idea, but a different standard. The City Charter calls for signatures in a number exceeding 25% of the last quantity of votes in non-city-wide (Ward) elections. I suppose At-Large would still be 15%.

They send in some guy employed in Lake County to “learn us” how great this proposed legislation is - all double talk.

My guess is they are trying to disarm the anti-BSL group by pretending to capitulate and substitute a “kinder, gentler” Law. Then when the vocal majority quiets down, they ran through an even more restrictive law.

But, thankfully, no one is buying it. They see right through the duplicity. And there is more talk of a recall.

Early on I compared what the city was about to go through with sleight of hand magic. Warning, when at a magic show always watch the hand you think is doing nothing. Misdirection is the single biggest key to all magic and disappearing acts.



In this elaborate production we had misdirection (cute animals), and (Cleveland Clinic wants out), sleight of hand, (the hospital is losing money we have too), charades (let the community decide) and even a do not look behind the curtain (LHF funds cannot be touched and are not connected to the hospital).

It continues to this day.

Sadly, Lakewood was played, and it would seem the roll of the Rube was easily filled.

I was beyond impressed by the public comments made in last night's council meeting regarding the proposed dog legislation. It is still BSL, not founded in any science, and the body language of Summers' partisans like Cindy Marx in the audience shows they are tone deaf to any facts that shake their world view. More evidence that we are living in our own little Trumpsville.
