Just a friendly reminder: any mention of politics belongs under Global Discussion. Trump has nothing to do with Lakewood.
I am pointing out the fact that a so-called Democrat shares the same world view as Trump, a candidate that I'm sure Bullock claims to be against.

Trump is widely known as a thief.....he often refuses payment to vendors, forcing them to sue in order to collect. Trump has superior resources, so his strategy is to grind down small businesses with legal fees so that they either give up or settle.

Bullock and the BL Gang want to intimidate the Lakewood Taxpayers to give up their lawsuit....it's the same strategy.

Mike,
I believe you are REALLY stretching it a bit. Why do you have to interject your political views into almost every thread? The people of Lakewood and those reading the Deck are of all different parties. Global Discussion was made for a reason. In the future, please use it, thanks.

When I read Mikes comment I did not think about politics just that Trump is a bully with money he is evil in my opinion.

Trump is a candidate for elected office....that is politics.

Yet another thread that is supposed to be about Lakewood and bad local government where we just couldn't stand not to interject national politics, could we? It is now completely off-topic. Wonderful. It's bad enough we have had to deal with Summers' people on here derailing threads. Now certain people are going to derail it with politics when there is a section of the Deck dedicated to "global discussion".

I'm with Mike on this one. Going forward, Trump will be an icon for all kinds of nefarious and inappropriate behavior at all levels of government.

Who are the moderators here? Even after an honest attempt to stop the thread-drift, it continues.

I'm more than willing to talk politics, but it belongs in Global. It was created for a reason. There always seems to be a few, but especially one person that has to instigate and interject national politics into every other thread.

Come to think of it: not trying to start trouble, but didn't Jim come out a while back about how Dan & Meg would be doing some of the moderating and monitoring of the Deck?

How sad--the alternative has a track record of nefarious and inappropriate behavior (and defending it) at many levels of government.
Bullock supports and embraces that behavior.

And "all politics is local" has been literally true for us this past week.

I've written before on how I think the other forums have outlived their usefulness. There just isn't enough traffic, and I don't want to spend any more time online than I do already. I believe Jim disagrees, and I'm fine with that. I'm not sure what Meg thinks.

To say again, "Trump" is more than a politician right now, but he is becoming an icon, one that many leaders of the Republican party find repugnant. Our governor is obviously one of them, and I certainly agree. I wouldn't compare him to the dictators of the WWII era, but rather to Putin, who he admires. That has local ramifications, and local politicians already emulate him. That's why he has come up in this thread.

I am not a moderator but I do monitor activity here. Jim (O’Bryan) only asked that I offer suggestions/opinions to improve interaction on “the Deck” as needed.

I have no problem with references to national politics in the Lakewood forum. It helps me better understand my neighbors. In this case they are comparing attributes with one of our own. Since it bothers you, I suggest you ignore it and/or redirect the discussion back on topic.

I am most interested in maintaining civility here rather than controlling the conversation. If we can accomplish that, more members of our community will feel comfortable (and maybe even enjoy) participating in these discussions. The relentless, negative, disrespectful posts that have dominated this forum at times in recent months have surely kept some away.

A sustainable solution starts with each of us moderating ourselves.

Should he win in November, Mr. Trump will have plenty to do with Lakewood (in the same way Secretary Clinton will have something to do with Lakewood with a victory in November).

How do we recover the millions spent on spin, lies and errr ahhh crisis management?

How do we recover the lost hours on LEGAL and REASONABLE public records requests, that should have been public all along?

What has never made sense to me, there are ways for the city to recoup more from this debacle then they are getting.

At no point did Summers, Council, Build Lakewood, look into any of the ways we could get more for the city.

I remember a couple posts from January and February a year ago, that said, one of the problems is that in an effort to hide, and grease the skids, the problems that would exist if the Ts weren't crossed and Is dotted. We are deep into that right now. Couple with an unwillingness for the Mayor and Council to state the facts and put the records on the table.

This gets ugly, and it did not have to.

Good Post.

The referendum is only one way to recovery.

The only "ugly" I see is the hate of Summers, Madigan, Butler and Bullock as well as Carson and Uldricks--that hate makes them all pretty "ugly".

Actually, I was referring to the lawsuits, that will lead to lawsuits, that will inevitably lead to lawsuits. While we are all happy to get it to the courts fo an honest assessment, it will be a long ugly process for Lakewood. It is as if they have never seen this before elesewhere, the longer you drag out the release of information, the more and more ugly and brutal it gets. Last February I told Mike, release it and make your statement, you have a good chance to get backing. Instead he chose the cover-up, the slow trickle of documents, and the outright refusal of documents that are public.

For Bullock to reverse it and look to recoup costs they themselves caused, is ridiculous.
