Stan, I believe it does. This extra income from the sale is money they can use to avoid coming to us right away for a tax increase. Losing the hospital is a loss of a lot of revenue. Hopefully, we can save the hospital, if not, I fear it is just the beginning. A lot of small business owners did depend on visitors and employees from the hospital for their revenue. They leave and soon others will follow. Can you really trust any business deal that the mayor and council would do? If so, then you really have not been paying attention.

A clarification of the parties involved in this transaction:

According to the Crain's article, Cincinnati-based Phillips Edison & Co. bought the Marc's Plaza from Lakewood Associates LLC which is Peter Rubin's company, Coral Co. which was the developer of this shopping center in 1993.

Coral's website describes Lakewood as the most densely populated city between New York City and Chicago.

Phillips Edison has been an active acquirer of Northeast Ohio properties, particularly grocery-anchored shopping centers; and is undertaking the transformation of Parmatown Mall into Shoppes of Parma, a massive open-air shopping center.

So the City of Lakewood did not own Marc's Plaza and is not the party that sold Marc's Plaza.

Stan, you are WRONG!

It is a ploy to bring back Jo Ann Fabrics. You read it here first.

Plenty of space in that lot for an inpatient hospital! Right in the middle of town too.

The old Board of Education Building could become apartments, condo's, what a great reuse, repurpose of that historical building, like they did the West
Tech Lofts.
