The revisionist spin coming out of Team Summers is: let's not get into the blame game, particularly let's not hold our mayor accountable. We've got assets to protect. We want to keep and continue to draw "like minded people" to Lakewood. It's time to stand aside, to look the other way, to pretend that all of this was inevitable and that Summers and City Council had no alternatives.
This mayor is the elected official most responsible for the destruction of Lakewood Hospital. This mayor is the elected official most responsible for the divisiveness in Lakewood. Mayor Summers has fostered a political culture at City Hall who's defining characteristics are mistruths, manipulation and exclusion. To slip in, that" he had good reasons for what he has done" is embarrassing.

I am not part of the Summers spin machine, actually I loathe it.

When he explained why he did it to me back in February of 2015, I found it easy to follow his reasoning. I didn't agree but I could see how he came to those conclusions.
It doesn't make it right, it doesn't make it legal, but it does explain how we go into the worst deal ever in Lakewood's history.
It also explains just how screwed up the entire deal and process was.
If you have noticed since uncovering this debacle back in 2014, I have not argued keep or getting rid of the hospital. Not my forte. But I have championed honesty and accountability from City Hall. Back in February of 2015, I never thought the group would spend over$1 million dollars to hid the truth and spin the terrible deal they put together.
My advice to the Mayor then, and now. Tell the truth.
