Carl Sandburg

“If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell”

The Mayor and his supporters pounded the table and they did so very effectively.

Some at Build Lakewood are calling for "healing". Before healing comes the diagnosis. So -What have we gained in exchange for all we have lost?

Third, my post bothered Corey so he ignored all the facts and substance, but instead wanted to know my source for the executive session comment--a classic Corey diversion thread drift tactic.
Facts are irrelevant if the source is not credible. Why not make the statement credible for all to believe? State the source, Law & Credibility 101. I thought you were a lawyer?
I assure you that it is a "fact" that the comment was made to me by a Councilmember, but please note that I used the words "if true"--in other words its a fact tat the Councilmember told me, but it does not mean that he or she was telling me the truth or that it really happened.
So you were told this illegally? Are Council Members allowed to discuss what happens behind closed doors? If so, why is this portion of meetings not public? Either the information you gained illegally is thrown out because of the means it was obtained or further action needs to be taken so this illegal act does not occur again.
While I believe that member's statement is true, I did not and do not want to reveal his/her name.
Because it was an illegal act? Or because it would be dismissed when found out to be obtained illegally?
We can debate whose is better at pushing whose buttons, but I think its fair to say from the record that Corey's reactions to my button pushing is louder than mine. Thou think he doth protest too much--and quite often.
This was probably my favorite line(s) from your post.
Also, it was Corey above, not me who used the term "liar" so you aren't being entirely accurate.
Wrong.
He then denied he had made claims--
To be more accurate, I have never said that anyone joined the Build Lakewood organization or Summer's organization. I did say that you are bad at public relations and people may vote "against" you, but never did I say that someone would go out and join an organization. Check out some of my previous posts below...

We have also come to learn that some are not suited to run a public relations firm or manage a campaign.

I admire your research efforts (and wonder where you find the time) but think you are failing miserably at the Public Relations side of getting your point across. This also means that I think you are failing at the Sales and Marketing of your stance. You can scream stats at people all you want but if you turn them off to your pitch then you are doing a terrible job of conveying, and persuading, your message. This makes you a disservice to your organization and a bad mouthpiece for the group you are representing.

These additional votes have been gained by voting against the postings of several individuals on the Observation Deck.

If you really want my opinion...It doesn't matter what side people are on in this ordeal, the more you act as the mouthpiece for Save Lakewood the less empathy people have for your group and cause. This may lead them to vote for Build Lakewood not as a vote for the cause but as a vote "not" for what you represent.

Your noise is causing you harm, their silence brings out more noise from you. It is proving to be a viscous cycle against you. That is just an opinion from myself as I sit perched upon the fence.

Mr. Essi,

Thanks for the offer to debate with you, but to be frank, I don't really have the time, motivation, or interest to do so. At some point it will undoubtedly devolve into "Blood on Hands" tit for tat.

Your quote is telling:
In other words, ignore all the facts and focus only on the style and personality of the messenger.
Spend some time on the word "Veracity". Don't try and make it about you; it's the message. If you scream and yell information that is embellished (many people like me did take the time to read the documents), I at least, begin to tune you out. If you need to debate by vilification of others, you loose credibility. Credibility is key. BL presented a plan of what would be in Lakewood, I don't love it but I also had very real concern that SLH's direction was headed for a much worse outcome. The ridiculous Issue 64 confirmed that to me. Remember if you asked what the plan forward would be, that was "ignorant" (My apologies to Jim O'Bryan, he used the word "ignorant", not "stupid".)

[snide remark]I have dedicated my signature block to you as a peace offering. [/snide remark]

Brad

"It was Corey above, not me who used the term "liar" so you aren't being entirely accurate. "- Brian Essi

"Did Brian Essi just call me inaccurate or did I say it, I'm so confused" - Brad Humphreys

No, you are listening, but not hearing.

Side bar - name the movie reference.

Bonus point - Who is the movie referring to?

Brad,

Could you please explain your comment that Issue 64 was ridiculous?

Thanks!

Cameron,

I just read through the "Should the Deck Create a Lakewood Hospital Forum", and I think I will punt here. Maybe someday we will cross paths and can have a discussion.

(FYI, Matt Lee is a great guy, it would be my honor to be loped into Matt and Co.)

Thanks,

Brad

Getting back to what Mr. Essi originally posted (Broker's Opinion), it is interesting that the market value for 14601 Detroit (parcel #314-04-001) in the estimate is $5.1 million, but the CCF has only been paying property taxes based on a market value of $1.1 million (it was only valued at $1.04 million in 2015). I wish I could get a deal like that from the County(!!!), but of course I don't have any buddies down there. Even at a value of $1.1 million, the City (mostly our schools of course) are going to lose about $46k each and every year when the parcel becomes tax exempt (under the CCF non-profit charitable umbrella).
