The State of Ohio says it wants the stimulus funds to help pay for the innerbelt bridge. While on the surface that might sound like a good idea it isn't, at least not for Cuyahoga County.
The State was obligated to pay for the innerbelt bridge with our without a federal stimulus package. This area has waited years for major transportation investments. As our tax money was spent in Southern Ohio we were told to wait. Evenntually the State would spend some money here.
If the State uses federal stimulus money to pay for the bridge this area will get NO additional stimulus money. The argument will be that we are already are receiving 35% of the stimulus funds for the innerbelt bridge so why should we get anymore?
Can't anyone here play this game?
