Jim,
Obviously it isn't just winterhurst, she brought up others in her next post.
You sure are getting really edgy, you ok?

On contrare mon frair
I feel you are the edgey one.
If we can get someone to put their name on it, then do it. Put the money into police, fences, whatever.
I am glad that Serpentini's thought it was wise to advertise and take part in Lakewood. As you point out, they invested others did not.
Three times I was approached for sponsorship from my clothing company or graphics company. To be honest, I think signage at Jacob's Field was cheaper. All three times the company hired to do it failed miserably.
My statement is, I agree, bring it on, sell the city, not really sure I care to who either. Get the cash, secure the base, move into the future.

I must have misunderstood your post. I agree with you about the ads, if someone is willing to invest lets do it.

I think there is much misunderstanding in your questions.
I do not think Grace was freaking out. I read her note as, "If we we sold our ass, how much did we get?"
My answer was, that is not our worry.
I too love Winterhurst and Lakewood history. But we sold the right to that when we sold Winterhurst.
Now that it is gone, who cares. Lakewood tried and we failed. In these trying times, I say take the money, spend it wisely on making Lakewood family friendly, clean, safe and fun. We can always throw the sponsors out later.
Ed FitzGerald and crew have really brought the budget into line, now we need to find money to do the serious work.

At the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce meeting yesterday, sponsored by Iceland USA, I was told it is a five year deal with Serpentini. I don't recall if I was told or even thought to ask how much. What I did notice is it seems REALLY good things will be happening with the arena.
I've been to and made a poor attempt at ice skating at Iceland in Strongsville and loved the place. I'm glad I now have somewhere closer that seems to be just as nice to potentially break an ankle! Lakewood Hospital is close so that's covered as well.

Many changes may be in store as a result of the deal.
For example, Iceland USA serves "adult beverages" at their other facilities. I'm sure it won't be long before Winter...er, Serppentini Arena is able to offer the same amenities.
Cheers!

If they do it legally and keep it controlled, I see no harm.

I just drove by for the first time in awhile. They kept the name "Winterhurst" in the signage, I think that is respectful. I applaud them for renovating and hope they are not insulted by any posts that do not favor their decision to come here.

Grace,
Just so I can understand the agenda behind your posts. Are you going to belittle all of Mayor Fitzgerald's accomplishments because he beat your candidate?
