Property Taxes. Lakewood's Drug Mart Plaza-The Smell Test?

McKinley is not as bad as it was immediately after the interstate opened. For many years there was no must-turn lane at the bridge, and each time we petitioned the municipal authorities they would commission their pet traffic engineering firm who would redo (sure!) their study and confirm that nothing could be done. We were going to put up bleachers and sell tickets for the constant drag races, but finally the city (I think it was during the George administration that was just voted out, but I'm not sure) realized there was a real problem and sprung for a few buckets of paint and some signs. That made the situation less dangerous, but we still don't have a quiet neighborhood (but the snow plows do take good care of us).

Be that as it may, thousands of people now rely on McKinley and I don't think it would be fair to them to further limit access. I can't cut my grass without someone stopping and asking for directions. My suggestion would be that they zone McKinley commercial, pay big bucks for my house, and put up a gas station and some typical interstate intersection businesses, like fast food and the like. The city could use the additional businesses to raise money, and we diisplaced homeowners could find a nicer neighborhood.
