IMO. Put the hoops back up and let the kids play basket ball. If you are up at the part with the family and there are some "hoodlums" swearing and spitting and causing a ruckus, simply tell them to shut it. I see no need to be afraid of these so called hoodlums. For the most part they are just 14 year old kids who like any other 14 kid just needs to be told by an adult that they are acting like morons. They are probley more intimidated by you than you are of them. Just be stern and let them know they are not acting the right way for a family park. So they may give you some lip. Chances are they will start being more respectful when they know an adult cares. If not call the police that is what they are there for and since I have seen killer response time from the Lakewood PD i don't think it will be a problem to get them up there in time to put the "punks" in there place.
