This post isn't about me. It's a thought experiment about doctors leaving town, a simple proposal to bring them back or to get them to stay.
Office buildings full of high wage tenants generate income taxes and economic activity. The City could use more of both.
And for the record the fire department overtime story was submitted over a year ago.
Also for the record I emailed a list of questions to Jim regarding the hospital some time ago. I never got any answers.
Also for the record, the hospital meeting Jim alludes to only took place in his imagination.

That would be the second meeting you are alluding to. The first was to discuss taxes versus donations, took place. Well at least three of us met and had lunch.
I also sent them your questions, and while I wondered about the need for some them as they had nothing to do with Lakewood or Lakewood Hospital, the Clinic really had no problems with them. In fact they pointed out that their books are open anyway as they or non-profits. But would be more than willing to sit down and discuss your questions. We were waiting for the time the place and what was the purpose of the questions I do believe. I am sure that Fred DeGrandis, Jack Gustin will be more than happy to give us time. They always have been more than supportive of us.
You are not waiting for answer, we talked about all of this. I was on my cell, and you were at home. Do you want the date?
I believe my answer to you was, I do not mind you asking the questions I do mind going on nothing more than a fishing expedition, or start the Spainish Inquistion with one of our strongest and best supporters.
I can go back and dig out the email, but I am sure you will agree with this post.
Bill the Fire story was sent in incomplete and you admitted it. I actually asked Suzanne to help take your numbers and write the story. When you got frustrated, you told me the Sun would publish to which I said, "as you threatened the city with a Law Suit from the Observer I thought it was only fair to keep it with us." You agreed. Correct?
I also told you you could post any of this on the Observation Deck, correct?
While you are a fire starter, you have always been honest with me on this.

Bill as I have no part in editing the Lakewood Observer please let me check with Heidi and Dan. I could have sworn this was left with your numbers which were incomplete, but close to where we thought they were headed, and we had to put those numbers in context with words. My choice was Suzanne Metelko who agreed.
So let me get you to agree with both other scenarios as I laid them out.
Is it also true I have not stopped you from posting anything ever.
Have I ever told you what to write or how to write it?
OR
Have I just told you to make sure you were correct?

That is a true fact!
My purpose in writing the Fire Department overtime story was to light a fire under City Hall so somone would do something to control the explosive growth in FD overtime. Since the new Mayor may have reached some kind of peaceful solution to the problem I don't see any sense in digging it up and flopping it over.
Anyway this post is not about past posts or the Clinic. I was just making an observation that a lot of doctors are leaving town and that it would be good for the City if a program was developed to bring back doctors or keep them here. (I know, add it to the (very long) list of 5 most important things to do.)
I couldn't make any of the posts I make without the hard work of everyone on the Observer staff. I enjoy writing them and I hope one or two people out there enjoy reading them. Thanks to you all.

Bill
Love you like a brother.
In fact you accomplished exactly what you were hoping with your inquiry.
Today the talk is of regionalizing the fire department.
It was a great effort.
Suzanne
There you have it, no big intrigue, no massive cover-up, no big story.

OK Bill
I can play this game.
Did I not go in with you to the Fire meeting? Did you not change much of your perception at that meeting? When you turned in your numbers not story, were they not still incomplete, as we hand not gone back for other numbers needed? Did I not tell you we needed words to go with your beautiful math?
Did you not ask if you could send it to the Sun, and I said, "I would PREFER that we kept is with us, as you had used the LO name to get the story."?
Did I not later tell you as your frustration grew, as the story went cold, that you were free to post it on the LO or anywhere? Had you not already posted much of it elsewhere?
Now the hospital, when have I shelved hidden or stopped anything? I truly doubt that Dan stopped anything or Heidi.
Would the truth not be closer to, "You have done some amazing fact finding and number crunching. You have made all of us more aware and more careful. But a complete finished story by you has never been stopped.
Correct?

Hi,
Boys, please quit bickering. I do not know 2 guys that love Lakewood more. More doctors here would be great. I laughed about the Medical Mart. Remember when former Mayor TG gave away valuable property on Madison to lure Doctors here? How did that work out?
The answer for Lakewood is to build the peninsula. Then all those doctors will want to come live in Lakewood on the water and they will gladly pay full ride to do it.

No bickering, this is the dance we do about every 6 months. Bill knows how much I appreciate him, and all he beings to the table. It is just sometimes in our advanced ages we get fuzzy.
As for the Peninsula, still the soundest, best idea I have seen for Lakewood.
