I remember getting hit by a car once, on the sidewalk.

backing in reverse at 30mph out of your small hidden drive won't get you in and out faster.

the lady moved out of lakewood after the police tracked her down and told her I had filed a police report. I didn't want to, but the school officials at HMMS made me since it was on the way to school.

Dave, About all you can do is teach by example. I have bothered a lot of bicylists by not running the red light with them, weaving between cars waiting at a light, etc... Doesn't make a lot of friends, but sharing the road is a two-way street, and the crazy things some people do on a bike would never fly in a car. Bicyclists need to handle themselves on the road the same as motorists. Riding with someone who is actually respecting the road is, to me, a lot more fun than avoiding cars through an intersection.

As a cyclist who does follow the rules, I think those who ride on the sidewalks or the on the street in an unsafe manner give the drivers a poor opinion of all of us.
You can say that again. While it's fair to say many motorists are disrespectful of cyclists, it is also fair to say many cyclists are disrespectful of motorists.

I can't remember the last time I saw a cyclists sit at a red light until it turns green. It's okay to follow the law only when it's convenient if you're on a bike?

This could leave bicyclists with a false sense of security. Then they ride into Cleveland one day and BAM.

I continually have to hurry the brakes in Cleveland to avoid getting clipped by drivers making right turns. There's also this convention of them pulling out several feet into the intersection before stopping. Usually they got a cigarette in one hand and a cell phone in the other.
