"The silence leads way for you to stand out more as a fanatic. Your noise is causing you harm, their silence brings out more noise from you. It is proving to be a viscous cycle against you."
Corey has a point. I just heard this from someone else who is on the fence. It seems their strategy is passive aggression.

Here's a novel idea, how about addressing the facts he presents. The reality is if we had a City Government that valued transparency Mr. Essi wouldn't have to be exposing himself to all this vitriol. Good luck with that fence thing.
Most people look for people on the fence. It is one more you can convert to your side while keeping them from the other. Sales pitch matters.
I can understand Mr Essi's passion and frustration. Early on it was much easier to read what he was presenting, but once frustration started through it felt like it was being angrily shoved down my throat.
I do address his comments with questions on occasion (maybe not always directly to him but it does spark thought) but the only perspective I have is what I read here.
This does seem to be a viscous process to anyone who puts their name on the Deck.

Are people really "sitting on the fence" and watching this debacle and waiting to "decide" which "side" to support based on who they think is the loudest/quietist, nicest/meanest, etc etc?
If so, they must like drama more than truth and facts, and they certainly lack critical thinking skills. There is enough information out there, and there has been a steady barrage of information presented since JANUARY!
If truly interested, a person has had the opportunity to research this for months. Those who say they are on the fence are more likely to be either unable to articulate their position, have little interest in whether the hospital stays or goes, or are afraid that stating that they have an opinion might cause them to be ostracized by their social group.
This "I'm on the fence, you have to convince me," is the real passive aggressive statement

Um, okay.

You may not like. I don't like it. But some are. Yes.

Dan
Maybe you are correct and that some people are basing their decision on the personalities and rhetoric and whether they like someone or not.
But that seems a rather emotional way to decide. I prefer facts.
As Bill Call so frequently and rationally and unemotionally lays out the facts, it's clear that we would be making and irreversible mistake by destroying the hospital. No matter how we got there, it can be fixed and the course changed. Once the hospital is gone, we can't go back. Why wouldn't a sensible person advocate for the time to re-examine all the options before taking such a drastic step.

... and I agree. But the hospital needs all the supporters - and voters on Election Day - it can get.
