My main concern is with how the School Board presents the contract. They continue to point towards the salary only number and not the total compensation number. I believe that they should fully disclose the contract terms and not try to use the lower number to soft pedal what they have done. After all, how many people are going to read through all 12+ pages of the contract and fine print. My point to them is that it is purposely misleading to point to the salary only number when the total compensation is over $90,000 more.

Thanks, Woody. I hear what you are saying. I guess my concern is more transparency does little to help people compare and contract when other districts are not sharing those full packages. My guess is they are all around the same sort of compensation package above and beyond salary, too, but lacking that information makes comparing difficult.

I think this would be a good discussion if peers from other communities could provide us with compensation packages from Rocky River, Fairview, and maybe a similar inner ring districts like UH/CH to see what the real comparison would be.

If they are out to "soft pedal" the real information then so is Cleveland.com for only giving us salaries, too. I think salary is just a metric that citizens can easily work with as I am willing to bet many working people do not have a solid understanding of THEIR full compensation outside of their salary. Maybe how much matching is added to retirement (if offered) and how much THEY pay for their insurance but likely how much the employer contributes.

Just wondering what is useful to educate and compare, that is all.
