Release of 2nd Metro Proposal Exposes More Summers Lies

Who saw this proposal? I know the Mayor. But did City Council, LHA, and LHF see it too?

As far as I have been told, only Ms. Fry and the 5 Members of the Step 2 Committee (Summers, Tom Gable, Bill Gorton, Ken Haber and Dr. Tabbaa) saw this proposal back in September 2014.

Someone told me Kevin Butler was there too, but Kevin told me he was not so it appears that only 6 people saw it.

I know I take a beating every time I mention this, but Ken Haber's name seems to appear on every list, as he seems to be playing on both sides of the fence (pro-Lakewood advocate and anti-hospital). He sits on multiple Boards. One Board controlling the money and one Board controlling the outcome and fate of the hospital. I know everyone keeps mentioning the big 3 players in the game, I just can't figure out why it is not considered the big 4. He seems to be getting a free pass though he is a major player in this game. He saw the proposal. He is a decision maker for multiple Boards. He is behind the scenes on multiple fronts. Am I the only one seeing this, or the only one mentioning it?

The question for all these "volunteers" is this:

1. What is your interest in being so involved?

2. Why do you do this for "free"?

3. Why are you so passionate about this demolition plan?


Dr. Tabbaa is a good doctor, but he has business dealings with the Clinic at Avon and the successful bidder will be his Landlord at Columbia Road.

Gorton profited greatly in his insurance business with the Clinic CPP program and is a CCF trustee.

Gable is a CCF trustee and runs Four Gable Management or something like that where I'm told he acts as owner's representative in construction. Was he professionally involved in the Lakewood ER reconstruction? "Friends" of his have told me things, but I like to operate on facts--Gable has said things I know are not true--does he believe them or has he been misled?

Summers--you know the questions and many answers.

I am learning that there are many trustees that have financial and/or professional interests in being on the LHA board. More later...

The old adage, "Follow the Money" is clearly applicable here. Lots of people involved in this stand to benefit, either directly, or through contacts.

They aren't doing this out of the good of their hearts. They do not care one bit about the average Lakewoodite, any more than they care about the elderly who will find it more difficult to receive care.

Yesterday, after six weeks of emails and records requests by me with City Hall et al, I finally received MetroHealth's second proposal from September, 2014.

Here is brief summary of its terms:

1. Maintain Lakewood as a full service, low acuity inpatient hospital. P 2
2. Significant capital resources to ensure physical infrastructure is made efficient and viable p.2
3. Shift of ER visits from Metro to Lakewood ER. p. 3
4. Consolidate Metro visits into Lakewood ambulatory sites. p.3
5. Jobs. Keeping Lakewood employed 900 jobs and tax revenue. P.6
6. Hospital. Redirect Metro programs and patient volume to Lakewood. P. 6
7. Capital. $100 million in capital improvements and medical technology over ten years.

On January 28, 2015, Bill Grulich asked Mayor Summers if he would release the Metro proposal. Mayor Summers said concerning Metro: “We had two meetings with our narrow strategic group and the Metro group. We never got a written letter of intent from them. There was some serious interest on their part strategically on staring off as a family health center and considering whether or not they would consider running it as a community hospital. It was a very exciting possibility and then at the beginning of October they withdrew their interest. So it went away.” (Beck Center 1/28/15 at 1 hour 44 minutes) Note: the attached documents are Metro’s “proposal” for Lakewood Hospital continuing as an inpatient hospital and not merely Metro’s “interest” or “considering” something. Metro found out the lOI was a done deal and withdrew because Summers was just using them to white wash his plan from over a year earlier.

The first Metro Proposal of May, 2014 was not released by Mayor Summers until May, 2015.

A “half-truth” is defined as a statement that conveys only part of the truth, especially one used deliberately in order to deceive someone.

It is time for Mayor Summers to resign.

Its hard to catalog all of the lies. If not for persistence in pursuing a secretive City Hall, we would never have seen the second Metro proposal.
