Mayor Michael P. Summers...

"Why are you involved in this process?

By virtue of my office as mayor, I am also a member of the governing board of the Lakewood Hospital Association — as have been my predecessors, Mayors Sinagra, Harbarger, Cain, George and FitzGerald. Our service to the board is required by the lease agreements negotiated and approved by the city in 1987 and again 1996, each authorized under our city charter. Our duty as mayors has been to serve and protect Lakewood’s citizens both near- and long-term, and as hospital board members, we have executed that same duty."

The world of interlocking boards is an interesting one. In for-profit businesses they are mostly
illegal, and there are federal laws about when they enter the same realm.

However in the non-profit world they are actually encouraged. With some notable
exceptions. When an interlocking board contains elected officials, their position as
elected officials supersedes everything else. Their first alliance is to the city and to their
fellow elected officials. They, by law, need to keep their fellow council people in the loop.
IF there is an issue, Council can legally go into an Executive Session.

So the Mayor and the Council President were NOT protecting the city-- the residents' interests-- when they kept the rest of City Council--who are the representatives of the residents-- in the dark, and misled them. The Mayor, Council
President Mary Louise Madigan and Tom Bullock flaunted not just the laws, but the good
will of the people who elected them, when for 3 years, they ran the largest employer, and
center of healthcare, out of the city for a Wreck Center for friends.

Michael P. Summers - WRONG AGAIN!

Your singular duty is to protect the city and the residents FROM BAD DEALS LIKE THIS.

NOT INITIATE THEM!

To help us find the truth--not lie to and mislead the very people who supported you.

IF the deal is so good, if these elected officials are so "nice" why are they lying to us? If
you think elected officials lying to residents is OK, well you have to be really happy. Nuts
but happy, morally bankrupt but happy.

Please fix your moral compass, somehow this went from a damn good administration to
the most secretive and corrupt in the history of Lakewood.
