I'm not sure what either case has to do with Obama.
As it is, most of the media is like most of the public. They are generally indifferent to whether Tebow is a Christian or not. Occasionally someone will mention it, because their jobs are discussing whatever the quarterbacks are doing. He could be knitting sweaters or juggling tennis balls and it would garner just as much attention.

My theology training is mostly limited to what stuck from watching reruns of Happy Days and Highway to Heaven in the 80s. As I understand it, God and the Angels and demi-gods and wizards don't really care which team wins the football game. No matter how many players on each team are praying.

In a roundabout way, Tebow's religious practices are his way of practicing dedication to his team. He wants to keep himself clean, so he can be there for his team.

Many years ago, Terry Bradshaw realized he was spending too much time carousing at the HonkyTonks. So he gave that up and got back to religion. He had to get Clean, to be there for his team.

More recently, AxeCop faced a similar challenge. He had accidently killed a good guy. then his Axe kept breaking, a Bad Guy chopped his head off, and his Team lost their powers. So he had to get straight with God to get his powers back.

I myself experienced a football related miracle. Many years ago...I was visiting my fathers family. we went to McDonalds. there were about six of us. He ordered about two large cokes and a few other things for us to split. as was his habit, he began saying loud prayers to Jesus Christ before the meal began. As was his habit at the time, his prayers ended with statements about how pissed off he was at Bernie Kozar, and could God help the Browns get rid of Bernie Kozar. Then a huge black guy with a bass voice came over. he worked at the McDonalds. He gave us two trays of additional food. This was like the Parable of the Fishes.
