Thanks to my good friends with Raptor Watch and at the Metro Parks...
fledged, adjective
1.
having the plumage or feathers necessary for flight.
2. having the characteristics of maturity.

A Bald Eagle takes about a month to fully get the feathers and ability to fly. It starts with them hopping
around the nest, and slowly getting more and more used to its wings. It takes the following stages;
hopping around nest, hopping the edge of the nest, stretching and flapping wings, hopping while
flapping wings, short flights across nest, then to close branches, then finally full flight. At that point
it will hang around the nest for another month or so, though some like children stay longer, even
much longer. On that schedule, the baby will be gone by July, so enjoy the not so little guy in pics and videos.

Peter

With all that has happened this weekend, it is still me favorite way to start the day. A cup of coffee
and sitting on the side of a cliff looking into the Emerald Canyon and watching real life happen.

Or we could look at silly photos of you!

It is all good!

If this eaglet is not flying then I do not understand the concept of flying,

It's not gliding, soaring, diving, etc.

It flaps it sings and gets lift, and altitude and sustains it.

If I did that, I'd call it flying.

And from this morning, the kid chases the adult out of the nest, after being fed.

Ahhhhh they grow out of cute so fast.

If YOU did that I would call it a miracle.
