I have sat on a number of non-religious committees where committee members were hoping to make a difference, only to feel, time and again, that we ended up either being irrelevant, or a rubber stamp for the powers-that-be.

The dynamics in play with all of this are more than interesting from a news standpoint. First we hear news of all of this NOT locally, but from afar....

...then, what we do hear locally is...well....uh...what we do hear locally.

I do have a sense, as well, that as joyous as a church re-opening can be for many of those directly affected, there will indeed be a sizable impact on parishioners who have already tried to resettle in other parishes, and indeed, on every parish.

...and then, you have those who threw up their hands and left entirely.

There's an old saying about not being able to return home...

....and yet... there's another older saying... that with God, all things are possible.

I also have a sense that there are many people in Lakewood and in the Greater Cleveland area who have gone through very serious emotional grief about all of this over the past few years.

Great joy today? Yes. The concerns and prayers indeed continue, however.

Back to the banjo...
