PS.. every politician but Ed Fitzgerald...

Stephen,

We live in Lakewood. When I look out MY window, I see that all of our elected Lakewood officials have other jobs, except for Mayor Summers. I assume that Mike Summers is about the same age as me, 57. His "career" as a politician began just over 10 months ago. That probably doesn't meet your "career politician" definition. Before that, he was a businessman.

Our municipal judge is also elected, but I'm not sure he could be called a career politician either.

A professional city manager is not a career politician, but a career administrator.

Still not betting on your young accountant.

Gary,

I've seen, heard, and played, your banjo. Very nice.

Your banjo head, like Pete Seeger's, says, "This machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender." That may be, but no matter how powerful, it can't fight ignorance.

Keep playing anyway.

If have no ill will towards Mayor Summers but he is hardly a political novice. He was appointed to a political board way back when Taft was Governor and has held two other elected offices since then.

The Mayor doesn't have his house, transportation, food, etc paid for by tax payers as a part of his job so the comparison is apples to oranges.

It is easy for Ron Paul to make all kinds of crazy claims knowing he will never be accountible for them, since he will never be President. His stand on tax dollars and "pork" is similar to a man who is for prohibition but since it's still legal he drinks the whole keg.

Hi,
I'm not surprised to see Dems badmouthing Dr. Paul and perhaps I shouldn't be surprised to see Repubs doing it too, but I am.

Dr. Paul hasn't done one thing to get attention his entire career. He is a patriot and one of the few defenders of our Constitution left in Washington. I think cutting a trillion dollars from the federal budget was not an attention getter either. We are in deep fiscal trouble and he cares about our Country's future. He works hard to defend our civil liberties, sometimes with the like of Dennis K.

I really can't buy the notion of someone qualified saying I want to help Lakewood but I have to make more than the average Lakewoodite. I want a Mayor that is passionate about doing his job well. Not one that tracks every minute of the time they work to sock the City with a big charge as they walk out the door. Remember MC? Seems that person was thinking about them self at least some of the time they should have been thinking about the needs of the City.

Isn't a patriot someone who loves their country? I thought I was a patriot and under that definition I am.

Just because I disagree with policy decisions and wars we are making, doesn't mean I don't love my country. I don't believe I have to know the Constitution by rote nor the declaration of independence word for word.

I also don't believe that Christians satisfy their religions requirements by being able to quote chapter and verse of the bible. I do believe that being Christian is emulation of the Christ as portrayed in the new testament and the gospels, all of them, not just the hand picked ones from the council of Nicea.

There she goes folks with that fine kettle of fish.
