Shawn,
For the record, I was in compliance before being in compliance was the thing..out here so to speak. I have confirmed I have been the whole time.
So that has never been an issue for me. I don't care about that. Although I think everyone should be held to the same standards regardless of breed. The recent stories on the news about "everyday household breeds" being involved in maulings and killings is case and point.

It's not the dog it's the owner. For those that don't come into compliance in 90days they should leave, happy to see them go. I would rather the dog stay and go to a responsible family .....they can be rehibilitated.

Once the "by laws " of how to be in compliance are explained and clearly visible to find without digging through pages of city oridinances, I think you will find most people would be in compliance without much of an issue.
Those who are not, don't let the door hit you.

I however do look over my shoulder a lot more now. I run checking doors and rechecking every time my kids go in and out because I am terrified some type of murphy's law is going to happen and my dog will wander out on the porch looking for them. She won't leave the yard, most often the porch not the point.....I see the pitch forks and torches coming already.
Thankfully she is older and a sloth. Being on her treadmill for a short period of time is all she requires, thank goodness, because I am not walking her outside right now.

What we are seeing in the media now, is the same thing we will see here in Lakewood. That is the whole point of my personal fight. It's not that my dog is my child. I love her, she is my dog. Not my best friend. She has her place, she earns her due, and she is content to know who the leaders of the pack are. I fight because it makes no sense, it is not going to bring safety here. False sense of security is a true danger.

Other than the media, and this ban, and less walking ...my life with my dog has not changed as an owner. I still have everything to cover my butt as it should be for all dog owners. I am not more or no less responsible than before this started.

This will not work and Lakewood if you think you are safer for it, you will be sorely disappointed.

The news on Cincinnati's overturning BSL is another victory for my personal cause. It's something else we showed council. Along with the fact other dogs were just as dangerous, yes that lab sitting at your feet my friends. In the hands of a irresponible owner or criminal, or abusive person is JUST AS DANGEROUS as my American Bulldog.
