LOL.. Never let history stand in the way of the facts... Please keep on clouding the issues with hate and ignorance... Now who is the idiot? No, you missed the point..You've rather deftly missed my point. I'm not at all interested in re-arguing all the failures of the current administration.

I was considering whether to make a final post here before disappearing for a long weekend, mulling over the personal animus that Stephen seems to be bringing to this conversation and upon rereading I think I understand it now. In the quote below, there's an understood 'with' in my first sentence. "Only an idiot would argue with that." I suspect Stephen thought I was calling him an idiot for making the argument, and for that less-than-clear communication, I apologize as it wasn't my intention.
Looking forward to Palin's speech tonight. Expectations are low, but the stakes are high. I expect she's going to give a very poised speech, strong on style points but without a ton of substance. After all, they're essentially just re-writing the speech that Romney was going to give to fit her.
Again, I'm not going to argue Bush with you. He's history, and his legacy is what it is. All I can do is envision the best America that I can, and go with the guy that aligns better with that vision. I know you're doing the same.
Executive experience isn't just a qualification, it's a bellwether. Palin's repeatedly shown that she's more than willing to abuse what little authority she's been given, until someone steps in to check her excesses (such as the town threatening to run a recall election after she fired the librarian and police chief because they were not politically aligned with her). I'm not exactly enthralled with entrusting her with more power and authority. Businesses that she's been involved in have not been successful One business she and her husband were part owners of was shut down by the State for nonpayment of licensing fees. The ironic part is that the company received its notice of involuntary dissolution on letterhead bearing Palin's name!
On the other hand, Obama's got virtually no executive experience outside of running this campaign. Even if you're polar opposites of him politically, you've got to concede that his campaign machine is disciplined, effective and enormous.

Only an idiot would argue that, Stephen. But what voters need to decide is whether a mindset that says the military is the answer to every foreign policy situation is what we need right now. And I recognize that there are arguments to be made on either side of that issue.
McCain happens to be the guy who made it through the primaries, so for Republicans, it's all about military service. If it had been Romney, it would have been all about private sector experience. If it had been Huckabee, it would have been about who loves Jesus more. For Democrats, it comes down to one thing - is McCain going to continue the autocratic, anti-civil liberty, aggressive and poorly-thought-out policies of Bush or not? My Magic 8-Ball says 'All signs point to yes'.
