Terry
To be honest I like president Bush as well. A friend of mine cooks for him, also cooked for his dad(the photos might be on this website). I wish him a long healthy life, and I think Laura has been good for him. I do not think he has been served extremly well by some of his advisors though. I was amazed that with his father heading the CIA that they would have set him up like they did. I would also like to see some of our largest suppliers kick in and buy armor and other items for the troops. It is crazy my stock in Halibruton going through the roof while injuries go up in Iraq.
See, we do have some common ground no matter how small that is.
I must had read a response wrong that mentioned you were talking about assinating GWB.

Jim,
I have endured many personal attacks from people I thought were atleast professionals (ie. Publisher, Attorney, Library Directors, Advisory Board members, LO writers).
I seem to me in the end that if you dont toe the party line here then you are subject to personal attacks. I find it sad that how uncivilized people have become and are are allowed to furlish (ie Jim Dustin) on this board. I have not leveled attacks again you, Ken Warren, Jeff Endress, Stan Austin, or Mike Deneen. Now all of you work for the LO and I would expect a higher degree of professionalism and open mindedness than I have received.
I understand I dont agree with you and your newpaper but personal attacks are never warranted.
The bottom line is the question I put to Mr. Gordon (DJK's man) was never answered. As the publisher of the LO, I ask you why doesnt the LO demand an answers for all his district to see? You demand them from other politician, dont you?
God Bless America!

To J O'Bryan + "staff" ( sorry you don't appreciate/recognize satire )
1- Since JOB has opted out of this DJK/JOB discussion "series' this should be the last word between us on the infamous subject of " djk successful efforts specifically for Dist 10 residents ". My summary judgment since NO ONE from djk DC spokesman on down ( aside from K Warren top 10 all everything list and your (JOB) - 39 trains which is actually Lakewood not DIST 10 specific ) even tried . So be it - Therefore "I declare" default answer of NOTHING ZERO ZIP continues to hold until/unless shown not to be valid .
2- Beyond that - I think both your opinion and mine of incumbent is obvious and nearly a 100/0 or 0/100 totally opposite view . So be it
3- Finally I hope you understand better supporting your side of discussion with verified facts not further opinions or beliefs
For those who suffered through my posts - I wish you a Happy Easter or pleasant weekend

to J Roberts Partial re-post of her 4/13 9:31 pm e-mail : see below

Mr. Kampe, sorry but I can't for the life of me figure out why you're even wasting your time on your OWN PARTY's super-safe OH10 seat. Not when there is so much to be done elsewhere (see above). Plus you can work to beat Ney and maybe even force LaTourrette to spend some money.
Mr, Kampe if you're a Republican doing "covert ops" I speak for many of my conservative friends. PLEASE STOP! You're no good at it!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very revealing and unfortunately very typical of today's polarized factions
To answer J Roberts question with a question - Am I the only one on this site who wants the BEST Representative ( for me / us / dist 10 ) by choosing the BEST Candidates to "sell themselves ' to the electorate ?????
Sad but true - Does anyone else think" outside the box ?" or do you-all think some "POS" Dem or Rep is better than anyone in the opposite party ? ie He/She is one of US , so automatically he/she has my vote - now and forever .
Summary : IMO Incumbent having had 9+ years to demonstrate what he can do for me/us/Dist10 is a LOSER - and only options are to look for better , harder working , local on site , dedicated to Dist 10 candidates and then let them have at it for my vote come Nov . But before Nov is the May 2 Primary were the incumbent and B.A. Ferris are running for the Dem nomination and obviously you should know who I am voting for .

Mr. Kampe.
Forgive me for taking a grown-up, non-personal view of the politcal world.
I would like to see Rep. Kucinich replaced by a solid Republican who reflects my views better than he does, but I'm enough of a political realist to know that's not in the cards. Credible Republcans won't waste their time and effort on a safe seat, and the party has tougher, more important races to consume their time and money.
Obviously, you have either a personal animus to Rep. Kucinich or an intense personal commitment to Ms. Ferris. That's your absolute right to pursue his defeat. I just think you're flogging the wrong case against him, that he doesn't bring home enough pork-barrel projects.
Also, your attitude that "Kucinich is so bad, anyone would be better." You have barely said a single word in favor of your candidate. She is a largely unknown and certainly unproven entity, and you've done vituually nothingn to advance HER case, in your zeal to put down Rep. Kucinich. In my mind, Ms. Ferris is a random name from the phone book, and you've not helped that situation in the least.
You're betting the ranch that everyone in the district is as incensed as you that Dennis hasn't proviided any pork to OH10. As a Republican, I can tell you that's the best argument for KEEPING the guy. And if given the choice between an inexperienced Democratic candidate and an inexperienced Republican one, I'm going with the latter. So there is virtutally no scenario where I would vote for your candidate.
And Democrats in the real world are not going to vote out an incumbent in a safe seat when there's a real possibiliity they could make significant gains in the House. That's"Mr Smith Goes To Washington.:" That's not the real, grown-up world of politics.
So if you're making Ms. Ferris' case to me, you lose. If you're making it to the loyal Democrats of OH10, you lose.
Sorry, but "lost cause" and "certain defeat" aren't most people's definition of "thinking outside the box."

You weren't suppose to say that!
When a person attacks one candidate and has nothing good to say about the other in primary season. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

How can I take this seriously when you lead with, "His mail order bride."
Agree the personal attacks are never warranted, but go back and read your posts and put someone else name on them. I am sure you would feel the way others do.
Everything you have accused the paper of doing you have been wrong about. Time was taken to point out that you were wrong, it is easy to do. there is anti-Kucinich items published, Barbara Anne Ferris has been on the front page, not one single word you have posted has ever been changed or deleted by you blame The Observer and it's members of all of that.
You call for boycott has been so good for this board we are looking at ways to put it in the paper. But it will be framed with the truth. The man that called for the boycott was given every chance possible to speak his mind. This forum is so open and so unbiased we have electrons and columns of inches to help him get his thoughts out.
What you have missed, is that advertisers join us not for the big $$$ but they believe in Lakewood first, and the American Way of open discussion. Lakewood was a city of closed doors and secret handshakes. We have a new mayor with an open door policy, and a new publication and tool that reflects the same. Today Lakewood is better and stronger than a year ago. I would like to think members of the Observer had a small hand in that. Not me, them, us, and now even you.

re J Roberts - post above
"Thank you" for "your?" / "your party" point of view - Cleared by Bush et al? or did I miss the announcement of your selection as party spokesperson ?
re Pork Barrel $$$$$$$$$$
No to O'Bryan ( and Alaska Rep ) bridge to No where
Yes to above or above average ( vs Youngstown ) road repair/construction gas tax dollars returned back to Dist 10 . hell we only have I-71, I-77 , I-480 and I-90 in Dist . Not pork just needed . Maybe incumbents way to "save gasoline" - drive at 40 mph or loss your tires?
re your " you've done virtuually (sic) nothingn ( sic) to advance her " - "Not my Job" as per my past posts - words / thoughts are mine - me , I , DJ Kampe not others or other party etc .
Further pork - NO but since only "pork" provided by incumbent is providing short term State of Ohio unemployment checks - PATHETIC
So to summarize your post : Kampe - get real djk unbeatable , Kampe grow up and play by the well established dual party rules and finally given any 2 individuals - vote my party .
Same could have been said for Carter 1976 , Reagan 1980 - and I guess I would rather "waste" MY vote on a dedicate to the district candidate than a "anything goes - so long as it goes to me " individual .

Mr. Kampe.
Thanks for that reply.
Mr. O and the others may wish to continue this borderline incoherent conversation, but I don't. you asked for a response, and I gave you one. My words, and yours, speak for themselves.
G'night.

Interesting to see how some react ( attack? / run+hide? / disregard? / ignore ?/ continue on? etc ) when their own words or actions / inactions reveal their inner character and "thought" process .

Just a comment about the "letter to the editor" posted by Barbara Ferris:
I appreciated seeing her credentials, experience and resume. Obviously a quality person.
And I understand her position that see views Congressman Kucinich's record as lacking (or perhaps absent).
What I have yet to see, however, is a platform. If elected, what does she intend to do to effectively nurture this silicon valley on the North Shore? What is her stance on global issues; Iraq, immigration, job exports.
While its all well and good to run against an opponent's record, merely showing that the opponent has been sub par does not lead to the conclusion that the alternative is better.....at least not without an outline of the programs to be initiated and the steps to be taken towards their fulfillment.
Merely going on record that a candidate "will work with members of Congress" doesn't present really answer the question. I would think that any candidate will work hard to bring in jobs, protect the environment, seniors and social security. But I'd like to know what measures will be the subject of the hard work. I mean are we talking about congressional discussion groups or are we talking about a legislative agenda?
