In accordance with Article III, Section 4 of the Second Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood, you are hereby notified that I am calling and there will be an Emergency Meeting of Council Friday, September 4, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. the Council Conference Room of Lakewood City Hall, 12650 Detroit Avenue; The following item will be addressed:

Notice to Legislative Authority For D1, D2, D3, D3A TREX – For Roxu Restaurant; 15607 Madison Avenue.

The meeting is expected to be very short in order to immediately forward legislative response to Columbus.

But not to talk about losing 1,100 jobs, our largest employer and donor to the City.

Nope, that one is strictly hush hush.

In my last post I mentioned the connection of some of our city hall officials to the Cuyahoga County Government. I believe that someone told me that Mary Louise works for Cuyahoga County and pulls in $70,000.00 a year. Interesting.

I have heard that Mary Louise Madigan is good at what she does and she has been there
awhile. Up until this Hospital debacle, I have always found her to be a good person dedicated
to her job at the county. I cannot explain what so many have described as a changed person.

I hope she continues her service to the county and enjoys her life out of politics.

Sent to me by a friend at City Hall.

The Liquor Permit came in after last Regular Meeting in July, The police report on the permit was finished August 15 - the restaurant owner called each and every councilmember and me hoping for a special meeting – I thought it was a good thing and worked like hell to schedule councilmembers so this woman could open her restaurant on Labor Day weekend; It’s not healthy for me to get this angry over something like this I know and so I therefore prefer to challenge you to a charity mud wrestling contest at your earliest convenience.

And here is the issue in a nutshell.

I have zero problems with the restaurant getting "emergency" treatment.

It is the other things with residents that seem to take forever, or are done in secret that
bothers me, and should bother all of us.

How many resident got preferential treatment when needing something fast?

Is there anything that would prohibit Council from meeting via conference call, or maybe Skype, for such a thing? Maybe it would set a precedent for matters of greater importance, but aside from that, why not.

The Sunshine Laws require in person participation in Ohio.

From Page 90 of the Ohio Sunshine Laws 2015: An Open Government Resource Manual:

A member of a public body must be present in person at a meeting in order to be considered present, vote, or be counted as part of a quorum, unless a specific law permits otherwise.867 In the absence of statutory authority, public bodies may not conduct a meeting via electronic or telephonic conferencing.
