How so in this situation, Jim?

Lots of talk ... after the fact.

There is no real civic discourse from our civic leaders and those pulling the strings.

So, how is this "civic discourse working" again?

Matt

Quite right.

This weekend I was talking to a Clinic employee who works at Fairview Hospital. He said Fairview is getting ready take over Lakewood Hospitals birthing unit. The odd thing was that the drawings of Fairview Hospitals new birthing unit have been hanging up for three years.

There is no future for health care in Lakewood. The Cleveland Clinic intends to create a healthcare desert in Lakewood and the Mayor and council thinks it's a great idea.

Dog Parks and recreation centers don't count as health care. The Clinics planned minute clinic on Detroit doesn't count either.

I am sorry it is not working in your circle. In the group I have been working with we
have found major flaws in the Subsidium Study, connections between them and members
of the Boards, at least 5 ideas that will be far better and financially better than the
Rec Center, and oh yeah talk of a drawing...

I could care less if Civic Leaders want out of this discussion, I also realize that
many people like yourself have dogs in the fight, and you are trying to prove
something, which truly escapes me. But yes, in the discussions I have been
in Civic discourse works, and you can read in the new LO and on the Deck.

Join Bill is screaming the sky is falling everyday and maybe you can be Nostradamus
again, me, I want to get to the bottom of this correctly, and honestly.

What escaping dog do I have in this fight, Jimmy?

What escaping thing am I trying to prove?

And, then you will do what?

Discuss it?

I've been saying for 10 years or so that the Clinic will close Lakewood Hospital once they complete the construction in Avon. That's why they have been slowing degrading service and infrastructure. My biggest mistake was thinking that the administration and Hospital board were interested in saving the hospital. It never occurred to me that everyone involved had a vested interest in closing down Lakewood Hospital.

The Clinic is forcing Lakewood residents to go to Avon for their medical needs. The proposed minute clinic in Lakewood will be closed five years after it opens. It's just a temporary facility designed to keep out the competition and keep the rubes quiet until Avon is in full operation.

It's nice that your circle of friends is coming up with solutions but they are ten years to late.

How about a meeting on how we can prevent the Japanese from attacking Pearl Harbor?

The Hospitals coming down and the recreation center is going up. End of story.

I don't blame the Clinic.

I blame City Hall.

But it's a great discussion, Bill.

Start a thread, Bill.

Maybe the LO will even sponsor a forum at the Lakewood Public Library ... or The Root Cafe.

And, so the story ends.

No I will publish in the paper and send it out to the masses, then I will see what I can do.

I certainly will not sit here and get goaded into trying something you are not willing to
put your name on it. And I am certainly not sitting here blaming everyone for everything
hoping some of it will stick to something.

I will put my name on the facts and my words and own them. That is what I do.

It is what I did when I broke the story, and found out the truth, which is NOTHING like
Bill Call says every third post. The story is very simple, the facts are very simple.

But when it is cluttered with a bunch of BS I am sure it is hard to see it. Maybe you can
get Bill to put his name of the actions you wish to start.

What are you talking about, Jimmy?

What am I not willing to put my name on?

I see my name all over this Deck (my real name by the way).

I see Bill Call's name all over this Deck as well (also his real name by the way).

What I don't see on the Deck is the name of the Mayor or the names of anyone from City Council, City Hall, or the Lakewood Hospital Board/Association/Trustees/Whomever engaging in this "discussion" ...

... which is the point of my post of earlier today ...

... which I guess caused you to feel goaded ...

... which again is:

Certainly the Mayor, City Council, City Hall, or Lakewood Hospital Board/Association/Trustees are aware of this discussion on the Deck. The fact that they have remained silent on the issue is shameful and certainly makes one question their leadership, or lack thereof.

I am trying to get up to speed on the hospital issue. There has been much discussion here and elsewhere among residents but little “discourse” between citizens, elected officials and the entities that negotiated the terms outlined in the Letter of Intent regarding the future of healthcare in our community. I missed the Beck meeting on the 28th but sense that no one there tried putting themselves in the others’ shoes…just one side voicing their concerns, the other stating their case.

Jim, You have done a fine job sharing the facts and raising concerns.

Matt, It sounds like you are pretty fed up with “talk” and ready to take action. What, if anything, are you suggesting?

Petition?

Protest?

Boycott?

Recall?

Lawsuit?

OR

All of the above?

Meg,

As a preliminary matter, the Mayor, City Council, the folks at City Hall, and the Lakewood Hospital Board/Association/Trustees/Whomever need thrown out of public office and held accountable to the public for their shenanigans with the public trust and coffers.

To the Mayor, City Council, City Hall, and the Lakewood Hospital Board/Association/Trustees/Whomever:
