Suspect Johnny L. Johnson ,of 2121 W117

September 6th, 2013

On September 5th, 2013 at 10:00AM the Lakewood Police Department responded to 13531 Detroit Ave #22 on the report of a missing person. Upon arrival officers searched the apartment for information on the missing person and located a deceased female in the closet of the apartment.

The female had not been seen by friends since approximately August 20th. On August 30th the apartment building manager contacted the Lakewood Police Department. He had not seen the resident for some time and had been taking care of her cat in the apartment. Officers responded and found the apartment neat and orderly except for the cat which had defecated and urinated throughout the apartment. The resident was not located and the manger reported he would continue to look after the cat.

On September 4th a friend of the resident responded to the Lakewood Police Department and filed a missing person report on the resident. The resident had known medical and substance problems. Checks were made with the hospitals and any known friends without success. Resident was entered into NCIC as a missing person. In furtherance of the missing person investigation officers responded to the apartment on the 5th and located a deceased female in the apartment closet.

Information was developed on a male that had been seen with the resident prior to her being reported missing. That male had been in Lakewood Hospital and Lutheran Hospital for medical treatment for about 10 days. He was released from Lutheran Medical Center on September 5th. Further information and leads were developed that resulted in an arrest warrant for Murder being issued for Johnny L. Johnson ,of 2121 W117, Cleveland, 10/20/1956. Johnson was arrested on that warrant later on the 5th in Maple Heights. He is being held in the Lakewood City Jail on no bond pending arraignment.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification responded to the scene and processed it for evidence. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner responded for investigation and removed the female to their offices. Positive identification has not been made as of yet by the Medical Examiner. Once that is provided her information will be released.
