School Hires New Treasurer, Kent Zeman

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

This morning the Lakewood Board of Education announced this morning that it has hired
Kent Zeman as new head treasurer away from the Avon School System.

Kent has a great reputation as being a solid person for this role.

Good luck Kent.

Here's the news release from Christine Gordillo. He sounds like a great guy.

The Board of Education at a special meeting today, Aug. 22, approved Kent R. Zeman as the next Lakewood City Schools Treasurer. Zeman is the current Treasurer of Avon Local Schools and will replace interim Treasurer Jim Estle starting Dec. 1.

“We are pleased to hire Kent Zeman,” said Board President Edward Favre. “He comes to us with great credentials and we are confident he is up to the challenges and important hard work we have ahead of us.”

Zeman will work with Estle prior to Dec. 1 to ensure a smooth transition, just as Estle worked with former Treasurer Tim Penton prior to his retirement on July 31.

Zeman brings extensive school finance experience, dating back to his time as Treasurer for the Clearview Local Schools in the late 1990s and then his two years as treasurer at Olmsted Falls Schools. He has spent the past nine years with Avon, where he was instrumental in the passage of operating and capital improvement levies.

Zeman’s experience with two major school construction projects in Avon will be valuable as the Lakewood anticipates its own major construction project on the near horizon.

Zeman is now eager to bring his knowledge and experience to Lakewood.

“As a true believer in public education I look forward to the challenges and opportunities to serve the Lakewood City School District and the community of Lakewood,” he said. I am excited to begin working together with the Board, Administration, and all staff to provide the best educational opportunities for the children of Lakewood while being sensitive to the citizens of the Lakewood community.”
