At the beginning, The Lakewood Board of Education, Mayor Tom George and others
dig the first scoop of dirt, as Ric Weir rings the bell to start.

As then(as now) School Board President Ed Favre addresses the crowd, then School Board Members
Mike Summers, and Linda Beebe look on.
With the great news released just this afternoon that the Ohio Facilities Construction Committee (OFCC, formerly the Ohio School Facilties Commission) has released 50 million dollars with Lakewood City Schools' name on it, our District is moving into place to actually, finally get this done.
A special Board meeting scheduled tonight to review plans for the interim replacement of Treasurer, happens at the perfect time for the Board to also review and pass the first required resolution to begin the process of placing a combined bond and permanent improvement levy on the ballot for November of 2013.
Superintendent Patterson and his team have been on top of this date, July 11th, for a long time, knowing that the second Lakewood got the thumbs up, the District could move to get this done. Once the money is released a school diistrict only has a certain window of time to act in order to receive it.
So hang on to your hats for the good news out of the Board meeting tonight. It's been a long long road. The destination is in sight!
