Free classes with Johnny Appleseed at the Beck, this morning

Post by Betsy Voinovich »

If you are looking for something to do with the kids this morning, as part of the Lakewood Historical Society's Chautauqua programming, there is a FREE Johnny Appleseed workshop at 11 this morning at the Beck Center. You have about 30 minutes to get them out of bed and help them find their shoes.

This is from the Lakewood Historical Society Website:

11 a.m. Youth Workshop at Beck Center for the Arts: Becoming Johnny by Hank Fincken.

In this workshop, Hank asks students to share their favorite stories about John Chapman and discusses how we can separate fact from fiction.

Hank also demonstrates the steps he takes to transform into Johnny.

We conclude by playing theatre games that reveal how gestures and mannerisms bring historical characters to life. Don’t be surprised if we discover that a little of John Chapman resides in all of us.

Sounds great.
