I was alarmed today when I received an email from Citizens for Lakewood's Children on the email address that the school system uses to notify me of snow days, early release days, and other things relating to the safety of my child. I don't routinely use this address for anything other than work, or when I need to be reached quickly, and I don't think I gave it out to anyone other than the BOE.
Regardless of your feeling one way or the other on this issue, if this was authorized by the school system, that would be an inappropriate use of Lakewood school families' email addresses.
Anyone know if this was done with the knowledge of the School Board? They're on vacation, so I won't be able to call them until next week.
I hope I'm wrong on this. Maybe the levy group just bought a bunch of email addresses from Google and I was just in the herd. Fine. But if the School Board sold their email list to these folks, I think that's unacceptable. I will be checking with the BOE next week to find out.
I so want to be wrong on this.

John - I'm the treasurer for Citizens for Lakewood's Children and I'm also on the levy committee. I'm not involved in sending the emails out but I can ask where the email addresses came from. It may take a few days.
