Double Hung: Bring the Kids!

Post by michael gill »

Pardon my blatant self promotion. Perhaps Jim will be more inclined to forgive such abuse of this forum when I tell him that I held back from titling this thread, "Leaving Lakewood, for Good Reasons."

Double Hung, in this case, refers not to windows, but to pictures--which I've hung at the usual gallery level, but also at eye-level for toddlers.

Leaving Lakewood, in this case, refers to going out to Bay Village--specifically to BAYarts, where I have a show called Cats, Mice, and Movable Type, which presents wood block and letterpress children's books, including some works in progress, plus informative displays of old school movable type, wood blocks, and other relevant stuff.

These blocks below are the first four in an upcoming book about a kid putting coins on railroad tracks to see what happens when they get run over by trains. Which we know no Lakewood kid would ever do, because this kind of behavior is both dangerous and illegal.

So please join me tonight at BAYarts, and bring the kids.

And vote for the school levy.

Michael,

Sorry we will miss the show but we dug out Clam Boy and Big Sister Kitty and read tonight. We are with you in spirit, love your work and look forward to flattened pennies in print!

Thanks, Meg! Spring is when Clam Boy and Big Sister Kitty need to get out there and deal with the blue plastic bags in the trees.

And by the way, we had a great time last night, seeing a bunch of Lakewood folks and arts leaders from Beck Center and all over the region (the Spring CAN Journal came out at the same party). I talked to people non-stop for about two hours. Thanks to everyone who came out!
