Mazie Adams Steps Down From Historical Society.

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

All

Mazie Adams, executive director of the Lakewood Historical Society has decided to step
down her current role. One of the many reasons must be that her husband has just launched "Rockefellar's" http://rockefellers-restaurant.com in Cleveland Heights where they live. While this decision is understood, I cannot help but reflect on the
many good things she has done for this city and the Lakewood Historical Society.

Me dear, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

Here was her letter to Friends of the Lakewood Historical Society...

Dear Friends of the Lakewood Historical Society,

After careful thought and consideration, I have decided to resign from my position as Executive Director of the Lakewood Historical Society. I have enjoyed my fourteen years with the society, especially getting to know all the wonderful volunteers, staff and colleagues that work together to share and preserve the history of our community. While I will miss the exciting projects of this job and will regret leaving the many friends I have made in Lakewood, I look forward to spending more time with my family.

It's true, my last day will be September 16, giving the board time for the search and training of a new executive director. I've been lucky to work in a job that I love for the past fourteen years and will miss all the people I've met who also love Lakewood's history. And, of course, the Lakewood Observer, which has supported our efforts in so many ways! Recently, my husband opened a restaurant in Cleveland Heights and this has dramatically changed our home life! I'm resigning to spend more time with my family.

I'm comforted in knowing that I'll leave the historical society in very capable hands--our Curator Amanda Francazio, our Educator Lisa Alleman, our board of trustees and the many volunteers who help to make the organization great. The society is positioned for a strong future.

Mazie

I am sure everyione is just beside themselves or still looking for the "like" button from the shallow river of
social networking, or just tongue/fingered tied.

I would like tot hank you for everything you did for Lakewood, the Lakewood Historical Society, Lakewood Schools,
both while at work here and wherever you were. I know Lakewood and our history were always being represented
in a positive and thoughtful way.

I would also like to thank you for all of the work you did behind the scenes in helping us secure and launch our
second newspaper the Heights Observer. That also would not have been possible without you input, thought
and caring about Lakewood Ohio.

It will be strange, because since starting this paper I have had the ability to work with you and for you, and
both were pleasurable and informative instances. You always brought a smile to my face and knowledge to
my head. It didn't matter if it was helping Grant kids with history videos of Lakewood, at City Hall explaining
why the city is the way it is, and of course the time we both spent with muralist Richard Haas on his search
for Lakewood's jewels to put into the murals at the Library. http://lakewoodobserver.com/read/07/04/02/richard-haas-the-search-for-lakewoods Each occasion was made nicer with you being there. Of course
my favorite Mazie moment was our first meeting and drink fest at Rhonda Loje's house for Christmas. It was
during that discussion you won me over for Lakewood Historical and the Adams Family.

Good luck to you and your family, I hear the world loves Michael's new restaurant "Rockefellar's" in one of my
favorite buildings in Cleveland at Lee and Mayfield. "Rockefeller's" on Facebook and http://rockefellers-restaurant.com/ on the Net. Have fun, take it easy and enjoy what ever you go on to do.

You will be missed but always loved.

peace
