Re: Lakewood's very own Old House Fair - This Saturday!
The Old House Fair comes together smoothly again this year. MAMA puts the organized process in place to gather the exhibitors and event services, Lakewood Schools Community Recreation & Education provides the venue and its resources, and Lakewood Observer with its impact to reach the Lakewood community makes sure the public knows about the event. Then, with all the many additional hands of each of the exhibitors that do their own small part to put on an informative and enjoyable event, an incredible community service is the result.
Last year, Old House Fair greeters were able to get most attendees to tack the map of where their house was located. The Old House Fair served nearly 400 households with information on how to better care for or get more comfort in their old home.
But in addition, each one of those attending likely passed on information to someone they know that didn't attend the event. And that's not all, like last year, all of the Old House Fair exhibitors will be included in the Madison Ave. Business Directory that will be given away to each attendee of the Fair and with 5,000 copies being printed will continue to be distributed free along the Madison Ave. corridor.
I volunteer to chair this event because I know the impact it has on Lakewood. Helping residents care for their home can be appreciated for many different but very interdependent reason - property value, safety, desirability, affordability, quality of life of individual and community, historical preservation, homeowner's sanity/peace of mind, fill in the blank.
Thank you to everyone who will participate in any way from attending, exhibiting, or providing resources to put it on. The event is from 11am to 4pm. A few other local events are going on this Saturday. Make Old House Fair one of your stops this Saturday. It's free and won't take long if you don't want it to.
