It was interesting listening to 3 non-politicians talking last night about the
up-coming elections, and comparing their very in the public, to how professional
politicians and their handlers handle elections. The non-politicians want to reach out
and work with people, and engage in conversation the pros, all thought that was dangerous.
That places like the Deck, do not suit professionals politicians who need to stay on
message based on polling, making sure to only say what will get them votes, and NEVER
get caught in an open discussion where you might say something you believe in but
would cost you votes.
I personally never thought any of the elected positions in this town paid enough to sell
oneself out, and change a local living being into a politician, but as I hear what is going
on it would seem that win at all costs will be back this fall.
I would say, professionals, and win at all costs, have no vision.
Vision would allow them to understand, we do not need campaign rumored to cost 3-10
times what the position pays, to an honest open discussion amongst the candidates so
that Lakewoodites could best understand who will serve their needs best. But I suppose
if it is win at all cost, and the need for power over serving the people, we will see names
like Burgess and Burgess pop up in April, and controlling their clients so that none of us
get the wrong idea about their clients.
I would suggest these candidates be forces to carry white canes with red tips, so we know
they are blind to the needs of a community.

Jim,
I'm sorry that I could not make it last night.
Well, I guess I am a "non-politician."
I would rather use and apply the word "transparency" than play around with:

We are talking about millions. We are talking about the education of our children. We are
talking about how this city operates, and how things are done. We have one, count them
one, schoolboard member demanding transparency and accountability, while we have
high ranking members of the school board and city hall working overtime to find anyone
to run against him, and shut him up.
***
Elected officials refusing to return phone calls? Elected officials refusing to talk with each
other? Documents missing? Millions going into things with no success? People being hung
out to dry for simply wanting to serve the people that elected them?

Jim,
This may be a good place to insert your questions. Answers?
