Yes, that is interesting.

And 4PM is an inconvenient time for most people with a job.

I will try and make the meeting but no promises as 4pm is an inconvenient time for parents with children.

I wonder if that was done on purpose. Given the way our Board behaves, wouldn't be surprised. :?

As always, thanks for keeping us informed Matt.

Unfortunately post Phase III many are quick to question the actions of the BOE. I have my own concerns but I did hear recently that the district is considering donating some items (furniture if I recall correctly) to a good cause. This meeting may simply be a formality.

Meg

There it is in a nutshell.

Thank you Matt for making this meeting public. Without his dedication to actually reach-out
and engage the citizens, this would be another blur of a meeting, where everything is
pushed through in a first reading while mumbling into turned down microphones, for the
edited tape no one watches on channel 74.

Matt, thank you for taking the time, and making the effort.

I say they donate the school to my rescue group. Think of how many more dogs I could save. LOL.

Thank you for the info Matt. The time is bad for us here but again thank you.

Matt,

If people attend the meeting at 4pm will the public section of the meeting take place first? Or, will we have to wait until the Executive Session ends? I think this might help some of us plan so that we can attend.

Thanks for letting us know about the meeting.

Kristine,

I frankly do not know how the agenda will play out as that is set by Board President Betsy Shaughnessy and Superintendent Joe Madak. I am not even sure whether we are going into executive session to discuss the property issue under R.C. 121.22(G)(2). As you have been to many of these special meetings, you know that they are more informal than our regular meetings – you have even sat at the table with us in open session.

I would also like to address the meeting time issue raised in several posts and threads. It is difficult to schedule a special meeting when all five school board members can be present. We are meeting today at 3:00 p.m., Friday at 4:00 p.m., and September 1 (maybe) at 3:00 p.m. None of these times are good for me – at all - as it cuts my work day 3-4 hours short, which takes away from my family time. But, it is what it is. What it is not, is some conspiracy.

It may not be a conspiracy, but it is just another example of the boards continuing lack of respect of the public.

Bill,

In all seriousness, what would be a respectful time for a special meeting wherein matters are considered in open session?

Likewise, what would be a respectful time for a special meeting wherein matters are considered in executive session only?

I vote for 5:43am.
David Letterman's Top 10 Reasons to Have the Meeting at 5:43am:
~The kids will still be in bed.
~The wife will not be in the shower.
~Breakfast can still be eaten warm.
~Clothes will not have any stain marks, yet.
~The street lights will still be flashing.
~Sportscenter is only on its fourth airing of the day.
~My DVR shows have not been erased and covered with The Golden Girls or Murder, She Wrote.
~I am freshly shaven.
~Work doesn't open for another 47 minutes.
~I won't be suffering from the afternoon blues.

Matt,

I have a pretty busy schedule. After work I usually head home and figure out what to eat, do some house chores, run errands, etc.

It isn't until pretty late that I can put my feet up, catch up on some news and e-mail, or maybe get a little ahead in my work for the next day.

About 11:00 p.m. I like to have a soft drink, ice water, or a little sip of Scotch. I get my second wind about 11:30. Then I'm ready for anything.

If you would encourage the rest of the School Board to schedule their meetings after that, it would be a big help. Then, instead of just not going because I'm too busy, I could actually just decide not to. Then it would be MY choice. Isn't that what democracy is all about? Me, me, me!

Oh, and weekends are completely out.

Thanks for representing me on this issue.

If I remember correctly, during the whole Grant/Lincoln discussion a few people questioned the BOE meeting time of 7:00pm saying that it's not conducive to families with children.

I have two kids and for me the best meeting time either on Steve Davis' schedule or David Letterman's.

Give the BOE a break on this one.
