The superdelegates have a responsibility to vote their conscience and choose the candidate they think is best for the party. That's their job. If they were simply to follow the will of their districts, then what's the point of having them?

Good explanation Brian. For better or worse, that is the exact reason the Democractic party created the "super delegate".

That's how I feel too - why else do they exist? - but it seems there is great variety amongst the Superdelegates as to what their "duty" is.

Such is the problem with choosing elected officials as superdelegates - they're too worried about what their constituents will think if they choose the 'wrong' candidate.
