Yesterday my daughter and her friend, dressed in pajamas, armed with pillows, headphones, laptops and snacks headed to Lakewood High School at 5:30 in the morning for an all-day music marathon to raise money for LHS's music programs. The day culminated in a crazy concert that parents were invited to, where for a donation, you could get up and conduct the orchestra. We were treated to greatest hits from the themes from Peter Gunn, Star Wars, and Raiders of The Lost Ark to more traditional fare like Turkey in the Straw-- and a great rapped version of (Not Throwing Away) My Shot from "Hamilton"-- all directed by audience members or selected members of the orchestra itself, and all while we got to snack on goodies from Insomnia cookies, Elmwood Bakery, Root Cafe, Einstein's bagels and more.
All in all they raised more than $9000 dollars yesterday and had a great time doing it. Great job everybody!
