The Latest Dump

Post by Bridget Conant »

The city is again claiming it has released "thousands" of public records. Please, it's merely thousands of PAGES, not records.

As usual, most of the pages are iterations of the same email thread - a new page for each response. So one email convo becomes 30 pages, or in the city's view, 30 documents. Please read and see for yourself.

Though they claim these involve hospital negotiations, all I see are emails between a paid consultant who is trying to help the city "present their message" and counter the anti-deal group AFTER the deal was made. The whining on their part is unbecoming.

I also found it amusing that our city "Communications Director," Colin McEwen, had no idea how a popular social media site worked. Eileen Korey, the former CLINIC spokesperson hired to help the city with their "message," emails Colin that Bruce Geiselman (the PD reporter) viewed her LinkedIn profile. Colin wonders how she knew Geiselman looked at her profile.

This is our communications director and he has no idea how LinkedIn works? You can't make this stuff up!

Please peruse the "records."

I believe they even enclosed blank pages to make it appear more voluminous.

We always said that Bruce Geiselman was Summer's private press secretary. It appears that Bruce wrote whatever Summer's told him to write, including the lies, so that Summer's looked like he was honest and legitimate.

Look at pp. 1318-1331. Includes a blank page. It's all repeats of the same convo about Geiselman and LinkedIn

http://www.onelakewood.com/wp-content/u ... -KOREY.pdf

That is 13 Pages that are nothing but duplication and emptiness.

So Mayor Summers, how do you call this 13 records?

Really, you think a judge will be fooled by this?

It appears that the judge has either been fooled, or, they are letting Butler get away with it on purpose,

It appears there is strong collusion between Mr. Summers and the county, especially the courts.

I only had a little time to read the first bunch of pages, and it sure seems like they've started with material that gets their digs in on the LO and JOB. Apparently they spent a lot of energy worrying about that. I'll get around to reading more soon, but consider that most people will only read that far, the degree City Hall is controlling the process, and the message they want to get out.

And a quick thought on the recreation center: Inspector Clouseau, who I'm given to understand was privy to all these discussions, posted the following review on the Facebook page of Planet Fitness/Rocky River: "Great place to exercise. Looking forward to a rec center like this opening on the former Lakewood Hospital site." (I've got a screen grab.)

Dan

Was is painfully obvious, is that a project that was hailed by all privious administrations for being honest and fair, and community centric, became the enemy because we posted THE TRUTH.

I hate to beat the dead horse, we said it was closing, he said no. It is closed. He said it was losing money, we proved it wasn't. He said the Conic was leaving we showed the idea came from City Hall, not the clinic. He said no rec centwr, we produced the drawings, various versions of the drawings, and the Mayor when caught, said, "Oh they were not serious." Version 7 of a rec center drawing not serious? OK.

He could have sent in any article and did, instead he hired close friend Eileen Corey to do battle against the truth. Read the email, he wasn't eve honest with her.

And NOW THE NEW TRUTH WE TOLD YOU.

CITY BROKE, it was announced subtly at council that tax revenues had fallen through the floor. Of as much as $1.5 million. Something the LO warned about.

Anyone who can possibly believe a City Hall that not only has lied everyday about this nightmare, but spent millions fo our tax dollars to lie to us, while the city goes broke.

Nice bunch of elected representatives of the people.

To the extent that the City of Lakewood now has a constriction of revenue or tax receipts that triggers a review of its bond rating, this is where the City truly becomes vulnerable to a securities fraud lawsuit stemming from the material financial misrepresentations contained in official City documents, other disclosure failures, or concealment. The paper trail is pretty amazing and the public has only seen a fraction of it.

Back when we were debating the hospital issue, seems to me $1.5 million was in the ballpark of the estimated loss to the City of its biggest employer and driver of foot traffic to downtown businesses (ie sales tax). And as I recall, it is the one point they pushed back most strenuously on.

We should remember that at one point they had a choice - a very good offer by Metro to keep the hospital going, and invest in it, but they chose to let it slip away in favor of the CCF facility.

CITY BROKE!

Mr. O'Bryan. Surely you must be pulling our legs as a publicity stunt!

I'm going to walk through a variety of official City of Lakewood documents that should prove that the City can't be broke.

1. The City of Lakewood Annual Report for 2014, at page 16, describes a proposed investment of $120,000,000 in Lakewood.

2. This investment is described in numerous other City of Lakewood documents; many are posted right here on the Deck.

3. In a sworn statement filed in state court, a City of Lakewood public official stated as follows: "The Master Agreement requires CCF and/or LHA make additional payments to the City totaling $42,220,833.34."

That sounds like a really smart and solvent City. What am I missing?

Could it just be that all of these numbers were bogus?

Why would any public official do anything like that?

I was referring to the fact tax revives are down $1.5 million this year alone. Off the projections promised from the city.
Add in the driven sailor spending to make voters think everything is as Rosy as the projected.

Not broke yet, but tax raises are coming.

Could it be that the City is going broke because our elected public officials voted to divert, through the magic of contract law, existing long-term public revenue streams and the value of liquidated public assets to several current and future private foundations?

Aren't future tax increases (or reductions in municipal services), just another way to subsidize that diversion retroactively?

We privatized our way out of the Hospital and then we privatized most of its residual value. The proceeds from the Master Agreement that actually went to the City (slender as they were) are likely to again be diverted to developers (or subsequent parties) via tax abatement or tax deferrals in the redevelopment of the Hospital parcel.

The City insured some of this by including a non-competition clause in the Master Agreement, to prevent the parcel from ever being used in the future for health care purposes.

Hope people are reading the actual "records" last released. So many duplicates and blank pages - don't think you will actually have 2000 pages to read; it's much less.

Here was an interesting email exchange regarding Jim O'Bryan. Is stalking a common trait amongst these people?

Is it appropriate or legal for city employees to be working with a political action committee such as Build Lakewood? Were we paying Colin McEwen to carry water for Build Lakewood?

Appropriate? Heck, it's business as usual with this City Hall.
Jen Pae, McEwen, and the so-called "building inspector" were all Build Lakewood shills on the City Hall payroll.
