Kate

On a real run. Sorry the Feds and the Postal Inspectors have not finished their investigation. Sorry the Sheriff did not wrap everything up in your time frame. I believe it has moved from actual mail to email, and posts. Not here, I have found out that only one person in the City of Lakewood has been banned from the school eboards, The Library, and here for menacing, threats and being "extra creepy to older women."

Just because it is not wrapped up as fast as you would like doesn't mean it is bullshit.

For all I know, it could be finished. I merely talked to three of the people involved.

Because of all the controversy this past year and a half, I've forgotten: why are we cool?

This region continues to lose population and continues to slide further behind other regions in the Country. Lakewood cannot beat the odds forever.

Each job, each resident, each business that leaves town diminishes the City a little more. They cannot be replaced. I suppose the current regime can ride the wave for awhile. They can sell assets to fund operating expenses and use police power to silence the opposition but eventually the truth will out and reality will overtake them and the City.

It didn't have to be that way.
There has been a significant loss in stakeholders: Lakewood Hospital, the Detroit & Hilliard movie theaters, Hospice of the Western Reserve, New York Life Insurance.... What is next? The Beck Center for the Arts? Nature's Bin?

Bill, you are absolutely right. I also know countless families with strong Lakewood roots where their children have chosen to move to Avon Lake or other suburbs, instead of Lakewood.

... and no, we cannot beat the odds forever. The damage is far reaching and more and more constituents get it. I was out delivering the LO a few days ago and encountered enormous support for bringing transparency back to our government. Voting against the ordinance in November is just the beginning.

We must also keep in mind that it appears that Summers, AKA Safety Director, has chosen to hide the truth about the real crime problems we are having in Lakewood. I was at an event this weekend and had the opportunity to speak with three Cleveland policemen. They informed me that not only does Cleveland have drug issues, but, Lakewood is running a very close second. Has anyone else noticed that drug related crimes such as trafficking, overdoses, deaths have not appeared in the Lakewood Police department on-line reports and that they have not been listed on the crime maps either?

Have you noticed that the problems with East Cleveland youths, ( 13-17 years old ) , committing crimes at two and three o'clock in the morning are not listed? Why does Summers refuse to give police related press releases to the media? It appears we only see the press in Lakewood when the Mayor wants to toot his own horn and make himself look good.

When you begin to hide lie after lie after lie, it will catch up to you eventually. It appears they are finally catching up to Summers. The hospital deal, crime, housing, what else will he appear to hide from us? This word gets out to others in other cities causing them to think twice about moving to Lakewood. I would like to thank Summers and Company for taking our beautiful city and tearing it apart for, what I believe to be their own self indulgent profits.

I bet Summers did not count on Save Lakewood Hospital and others to fight back for what is right. The hospital is only a fraction of what appears to be some shady business dealings going on in Lakewood. Hopefully soon, we will know more.
