One of the nicest and most unqiue buildings in Lakewood suffered major tuck pointing failure, and the white terracotta face and crown around the building had fallen off.

Owners of the beautiful building Tina and Angelo Skantzos owners of the building and the historic Shore Restaurant promised they would restore it to it pristine condition.
Then a call went out for missing pieces. Many souvenir hunters had grabbed piece of the historic building, and they wanted them to recast the plaster.

The call went out and the community responded bring back the missing pieces. Promising, they could have them when the recasting was done.

Slowly it came together over many months.
Then they got the pieces cast, and found a company that can handle the restoration. And they started.

Tina and Angelo Skantzos, owners of the historic Shore Restaurant, and the building it is in, want to make sure everyone knows the Shore is open along
with all of the other businesses on the block. The front of the building should be completely repaired and ready for unveiling in a couple more months.
All of Lakewood thanks you for saving it!
Friday afternoon, the scaffolding was removed and the work was done. Returned to its former glory, the craftsman ship was amazing. Raely can you see where they blended new and old. Aging the new, cleaning the old, it has come together perfectly!

Just amazing!

Stop by the shore for lunch or breakfast, check out the craftsmanship on the building, and stop in and thank Tina and Angelo for saving a historic structure in Lakewood.
The easier and cheaper way to do it would have been regularly roof, cover up the broken terracotta, but that was never an option for Tina and Angelo. The Skantos family has been living and working in Lakewood for as long as I came remember. And the Shore was always one of those legendary places where Lakewood various cliches melt into each other over and old style dinner breakfast, lunch or dinner. They wanted to save the Shore, the history and the neighborhood.
Thank you, you make me proud.
Not sure how much RNC traffic they will get, but if the convention goers were smart, they would start everyday at The Shore.
Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, you are staying in Lakewood, start the day at The Shore.
