Lakewood College A.K.A Center for Conflict Resolution

Post by Lori Allen _ »

I notice that a place called The Center for Conflict Resolution owns two units in the Carslyle Condominiums. According to the county, they are tax-exempt as the units are "college academy owned". I googled them to see what they were about, but I got a warning that their website may harm my computer. Apparently they are known as both Lakewood College and the "Center for Conflict Resolution and Mediation". According to county records, they are in units 3A and 3B inside the Carslyle.

I called the 800 number for them listed online and got a pre-recorded message telling me to press different keys to have information about online courses mailed to me. Other than that, very little information was provided.

Interestingly, both units are valued at the same price of $45,900.

There is a good chance this place could be perfectly legitimate. However, there are some extremely weird and borderline creepy things about them:

1. Their site may harm my computer. Most legitimate places have a legitimate website.
2. How can you run an online school out of two condominium units? Most (legitimate) online schools I know of have a good part of an office building.
3. Out of all the empty office space in the area, why would they run the place out of the Carslyle?
4. Why do all of the options when you call involve giving them some type of personal information (address to have stuff mailed to you, etc.)

Again, there is a good chance they could be legitimate, but why have I never heard of them in my life? I have never seen any advertisements anywhere, none whatsoever. Can anyone explain this place? I have talked to several lawyers and none of them have heard of this place either. If you specialize in mediation and paralegal stuff, wouldn't lawyers know about the place?

Bottom line is: do your research before you dive into anything like this.
