Mayor Summers and CCF Take More Than Money and Healthcare

I started as a Catholic Eucharistic Minister at Lakewood Hospital February 2, 2002, Father Tom Kowatch put an article in St. James Church bulletin, he needed more volunteers for his team to administer holy communion to Catholic patients that were in the hospital. I thought I would give it a try because when my mother was in a hospital I saw how much it meant to her, it comforted her. So off I went to become a Eucharistic minister, after training, some time later I met Father Kowatch at Lakewood Hospital, he showed me the ropes and said put on a suit and tie and always look your best, I bought a new suit, shirt and tie. Going into all the rooms was a real learning experience! To see people that were very sick, very old, women and men recovering from sickness and surgeries and some that would not recover. Sometimes I could not understand how they could be so hurt and still be upbeat and not loose their Faith, it was truly an inspiration. Some very spiritual moments occurred through the years, I always felt uplifted. All I had to do was bring communion, share my time and just talk to people, I met a lot of people from Lakewood, some I knew and some that knew people that I knew. They were all very thankful and told me so, it was a wonderful feeling ( do not get me wrong it was not all rosy ) it centered me. I thank Father Kowatch for teaching me what matters the most. I wish I could express my feelings better, but I think you get the idea. I know I can find another way to serve, but my heart will always be at Lakewood Hospital.

So now February 2016 the doors to Lakewood Hospital have been Slammed Shut by Mayor Summers, Council and CCF.

It is very wrong!

Thanks for all you are doing for them.

There are still people in need at other hospitals. Is anything preventing you from going to Fairview/Metro/etc. or (and please pardon my ignorance on being a Eucharistic minister) are you only able to perform that function at Lakewood Hospital?

It does not matter I can be a minister some where else. At this point I am not sure what I want to do.
