A little elaboration on my previous post:
If the referendum vote is pushed to November:
SLH loses considerable momentum. But since two of the main issues at this point are the non-compete and the bed licenses, there is less immediate concern than there was a few months ago.
Other hospital systems will be into a new budgetary year, perhaps with money available to come into Lakewood.
But if it passes:
It will be considerably harder for the City/LHA/CCF to unravel the deal and start from scratch with the RPFs.
There could be considerable negative impact on CCF if they lose the bed licenses just as they are opening the Avon hospital.
Critics get to continue their drip, drip, drip criticisms of the administration.
Advantage: SLH

But it's probably better all around to resolve this in March if there is the political will to make it happen.

I understand that court was cancelled yesterday. Does anyone know why? Was it cancelled by the judge or was a continuance asked for?

Hello Everyone,

The Cleveland.com article stating that Ordinance 49-15 cannot be on the March, 2016 ballot is wrong and misleading. I have spoken to Brent Lawler and Cory Milne at the BOE myself. The Board of Elections works hard to coordinate with individual cities to place these issues on the ballot as quickly as possible. There is an excellent chance that Ordinance 49-15 will be on the March 15th, 2016 ballot. I am assuming that the City of Lakewood will work efficiently on their portion as they have in the past.

If we don't make it because of the process, then a Special Election could be called. Last year, that cost was estimated at $50,000 by Mary Louise Madigan. This year, it is being quoted at $150,000. I am hoping that is a typo by Cleveland.com as they also seem to have a problem with my last name.

Just call me Pam Hetula Ha! (My family has had a great chuckle over this new version of our name)

Many accolades to the brave souls who withstood the cold weather gathering 3468 signatures for this Referendum Petition. If we had another week, we would definitely had 5-6000 signatures. Many citizens just did not imagine that their leaders would close LH and give it away for pennies on the dollar and they are furious.
