Blowin’ in the Wind

Post by Leo Wetula »

Maybe we should ask Nickie Antonio…she seems to know something about blowing with the (political) wind. Ms. Antonio, your December 21, 2015, performance during the Lakewood City Council meeting will be long remembered (but probably not in the way you had planned).

Thank you for your “service” and Merry Christmas!

So, Jay Carson, supporter of Build Lakewood, files to run against Antonio. Then Jay withdraws his candidacy. Then Antonio appears before Council to announce her support for the destruction of Lakewood Hospital.

The oddest thing about the Hospital issue is how it is so important to the politicians and The Plain Dealer and Cuyahoga County officials to destroy Lakewood Hospital.

There is more here than meets the eye.

How many times can the City Council turn its head and pretend that it just doesn't see?

Bill

It goes far beyond Lakewood Hospital. You have commented in the past that the regionalists would like to destroy Lakewood and I think this proves it.

It also proves the immense political influence of the Cleveland Clinic. No politician dares to oppose them. They are too big, too powerful, and have too much money - while our leaders are weak, ineffectual, and are just as corrupt as Dimora and Russo. Maybe they don't get new driveways, but when you refuse to stand up for what is right and kowtow to the monied interests, you are no better than Dimora.

Lakewood will begin to lose money starting next month as employees leave. I'm keeping track of how long it will be be before we get asked to increase taxes. And how long after that people start leaving Lakewood.

This case is a good example of how the Clinic wields its power. It's been in the news for years, and without commenting on the merits of this particular case, it illustrates how the Clinic deals with everybody - they outright lie, stonewall, conceal documents and evidence, and expect their "support" of judges and politicians to protect them.

The plaintiff contends:
Meanwhile, Antoon has raised concerns that he is facing an unfair playing field before the supreme court, because the academy of medicine and one of the Clinic's lawyers in the case co-hosted a fund-raiser in 2014 for two justices on the seven-member court.

An invitation to the Aug. 14 fund-raiser indicates that guests are asked to donate at least $150 each to justices Sharon Kennedy and Judith French. One of the Clinic's attorney's in the Antoon case, William Meadows, is listed on the invitation as one of eight co-hosts of the event.

Meadows declined to comment when contacted by a reporter, referring questions to the Clinic. Sheil, the Clinic's spokeswoman, said, "We see this as a common practice that law firms, businesses, and individuals hold fund-raisers for judges. We don't see this as a conflict."
They don't see this as a conflict!

CCF is not really to blame here. I believe the blame should be put upon Summers, Council and their friends. If our leaders were honest people, they would have taken CCF to court over this.

Bill Call: The most "dangerous" man in Cuyahoga county.

Observing all this, what has been the most incredible, amazing, and depressing thing to come out of this is just how on target you have been for years.

And I know you did not want to be.

Totally agree with Paul.

Bill Call has been sounding the warning for YEARS. Pull up and read some of his posts. It's like he had a crystal ball.

What Bill has is knowledge and understanding and the ability to see what was behind some of the moves that were made in anticipation of this latest maneuver. It's all been planned and was there to see.

I count myself among those who could not wrap my head around the idea that our politicians and leaders would so blatantly sell us out. I could not believe there was that much EVIL out there.

But I was mistaken.
