$1 Million Spent So Far - That's How Bad The Deal Is

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

I know I have mentioned this before, but so many people tend to forget this.

The Subsidium Report - $500,000 LHA public assets
The Huron Report - which was based in large part on Subsidium - $90,000
Crisis Management - To control the message and the residents - $200,000
Thomspon Hines - Consultants selling it to council - $250,000
New people at City Hall and website to confuse and control - $75,000+

This was "A great deal for the city of Lakewood." Mayor Summers, Councilwoman Madigan

While I believe that Brian Essi was being tongue-in-cheek in his $10,000 wager with Jay Carson (who is a good guy BTW), Brian continues to make the point that folks on Team Summers and Build Lakewood want us all to forget:

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation will not allow anyone to takeover the Lakewood Hospital TODAY and no entity will attempt to takeover the Lakewood Hospital TODAY without the CCF first providing an unconditional release stating that the CCF will walkway from the Lakewood Hospital TODAY without ever raising a tortious interference lawsuit.

In his own words from the "WARNING - LHA Is Reportedly Conducting A Push Poll!" thread at http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13812, Brian states:

Brian Essi wrote:I will give you a $10,000 check payable to your favorite charity (even CCF) if you can get Toby Cosgrove to sign a written irrevocable statement that CCF will leave the Lakewood Hospital Campus location and cooperate in an orderly transition to a new buyer, lessee or manager in the event that Lakewood finds one and that they will hold harmless any party that the City engages as a prospect. Get me the statement and I guarantee that Lakewood will have more than one offer to operate quality healthcare in the heart of our city within a few months. Many parties are waiting and watching our valuable assets--surely you know that expert opinions are like wet toilet paper when compared to live prospects with the financial means that bidding against each other.

FYI, Metro backed out of their proposal after CCF's Brian Donley met with Dr. Boutros and then Dr. Boutros said he "felt used" by LHA and Summers. Why? Because Summers and his Step 2 never had a written statement from CCF that they would leave. You can call that a conspiracy, but I have multiple sources inside Metro who say that happened.

No worries Jay, many other good people like you have been misled--some choose to ignore the facts, believe what they want to believe, just don't want to "see" etc.

Let's do coffee or lunch and we can work together to truly Build Lakewood hospital into a well managed up to date facility. (I'll bring my checkbook if you can get that statement.)

According to Build Lakewood's website, national developers had contacted the city with ideas and an interest in the hospital site. I'd like to know who contacted the city, and if so, at this point, was asking for plans for the site a prudent expenditure?

For example, the "brainstorming" sessions for the public were held at a later date than July 13. Were these ideas to be incorporated into RDL plans or were they working on their own plans already? And the "national developers" surely had SOME ideas they proposed?

Jen,

Thank you for the information. I would like to request that you post here on the deck the names of the members that serve on the Board of Control, their meeting notes that pertain to Lakewood Hospital, and lastly, copies of the invoices for the services billed to the City of Lakewood from all the vendors you mentioned in your post.

Thanks.
