The Snow plows did a fantasic job over the past few days.
KuDOS guys and Gals.
All you City Service folks will be in our thoughts over the next few days also... no idea how horrible working out in the forecasted below zero weather will be for you,...But I am glad I wont be working out in it.
Stay warm and safe City workers and know your service and sacrifice is noticed and appecriated
Today and tomorrow the refuse workers will be foremost on my mind.
How these folks are able to spend 8 long hours out in these dangerous tempters is unfathomable to me.
I hope we all think of them and realize just how dedicated they are and how demanding and dangerous their jobs truly are. Folks lose sight of that fact all too often. But in fact refuse workers have a higher on the job death rate then fire or police.
So say a prayer to keep em safe during this extremely dangerous weather. And maybe take the time to thank them or offer them a cup of coffee sometime. I bet they would appreciate to know that their dedication is noticed in these uncertain times facing them.
I saw some sidewalks being cleared near schools yesterday and today at the island at Warren/Hilliard and on Hilliard near Madison.
I was thrilled/relieved/appreciative that the people plowing seemed to be taking care to NOT to leave huge mounds of snow where the crosswalks and sidewalks meet.
Thanks for your hard work in this terrible weather!
While I am not sure of the cost effectiveness, I thought they did a great job with the large trucks coming through and the smaller pick-up trucks doing the detail cleaning.
In this weather, they had the city pretty cleaned up within hours of the snow falling.
