Carolers!

We just had the extreme pleasure of being caroled! I can't remember the last time carolers came to our house, rang our bell, and then sang a couple of Christmas classics.

It was truly enjoyable. I hope it happens to you too!

OMG - how cool is that.

We used to do that down here in the west end, my neighborhood then and now. It was so much fun.

Haven't seen anyone do that in years!

I was at a bookstore at a west park shopping center when 4 old guys came in. they seemed to know the owners. they began caroling in a barbershop quartet manner. It sounded real professional. very uplifting.

At the 7pm Christmas Eve service at Lakewood Methodist Church (15700 Detroit Ave) I will play "Silent Night" on the Marcel Dadi guitar.

You may remember that Silent Night was composed, and has traditionally been played on the guitar, because little mice ate the bellows out of a church organ in Austria.

The Marcel Dadi guitar is significant because Marcel lost his life in the explosion of TWA flight 800 in the skies of New York.

Life is about passing the torch, at times. As we pass our candles on Christmas Eve, it's a lot like passing little torches.

As Marcel Dadi, along with so many others, cannot physically be with us on Christmas Eve, the torch of that guitar's music falls upon me, and the rest of us, to carry on for all of those who have gone before...

To laugh, to love, to live, to believe that a Creator loves us, suffers with us, and provides the hope of victory at the end of our days...

This is our collective torch. It is for us to carry it forward.

Was this at Kamms Corner plaza? Sounds like the 4 nice older gentlemen who go around to the stores there every Christmas and sing a song or two. I have seen them the last 2-3 years as I am shopping in the plaza as well.

Summit Avenue Carolers are the best!!

They show up by the dozens, sing well, laugh, smile and are a very fun bunch to start off Chrsitmas Eve festivities.

Also, upon special request (wink, wink), they opened with "Happy Birthday" to my now three year old daughter--needless to say it made her year. She couldn't believe that all these people would come to "her" house just to sing her "Happy Birthday." The birthday balloon they gave her was well above and beyond.
